Great for the 1st receiver. Basic functions and connectivity works well.

I don't know why, but my RX-v373 has best sound quality than my RX-V475. Just a little bit.

Comments about Yamaha Network 5.1 ch Network AV Receiver:

This is a great product for the price. There are a lot of stereo components out there, and it's sometimes hard to pin down which to buy or which ones are best. This unit provides wonderful functionality and customization of channel settings, as well as a slew of input options.

The inclusion of Apple's AirPlay is wonderful for quickly playing music from your device, and the Direct audio setting is great for listening to music (particularly vinyl records) in the purest way possible.

Furthermore, customizing settings with different audio processing is easy and effective—I have unique, one-touch settings for gaming, movies/TV, records, digital music, and more.

This unit is the the first component I've gathered for my sound system, and it serves as a wonderful centerpiece.

Comments about Yamaha Network 5.1 ch Network AV Receiver:

Our a/v equipment is in an "open concept" family room open to the kitchen and other rooms, not ideal! I used the self-calibrating feature for the speakers, and the target seating area has the best sound, but I can enjoy it from anywhere within earshot.

I already own a Yamaha HTR-5630RDS av receiver which is still going strong. So when I needed to update to one with HDMI inputs I purchased a different make but was never completely satisfied with it,after seeing reviews on the Yamaha RX-475 I purchased one and I have to say it,s a superb piece of equipment.

Comments about Yamaha Network 5.1 ch Network AV Receiver:

Living room, with old KLH floor speakers works nice.
Interfacing to Panasonic TV w/ Panasonic Home Theatre audio messy - still wonder.
How to combine with Panasonic Home Theatre sound system in the best way is challenging, but I will say the sound from my old KLH speakers (2 front, 2 rear with no center or subwoofer) beats the Panasonic Viera Home Theatre speakers.

And i like the network on/off and Pandora, and Apple TV operation. AM/FM radio works; Panasonic BlueRay player works. Airplay from Apple products works fine.

Best receiver in this price range! Purchased to replace a 27-year-old Pioneer system - clearly Yamaha has all the other brands beat in quality and features, with lots of room to expand. The receiver volume control is compatible with my Verizon universal remote, and probably others as well.

I love music and movies. How do I know Yamaha blows Sony away? When you come home and replace one with the other you immediately hear the difference - amazing! For the price range, Yamaha is the best value. This is my second receiver/amp. from Yamaha. I was using another Sony with my Mac until my FLAC files could not be heard with the Sony. Now I can hear all my music beautifully. There is no doubt that this Yamaha would be excellent in a home theatre setup. Until I can spend close to 10k on a home theatre I will buy nothing but Yamaha. Trust me, I've had a few "cheap" setups and Yamaha is exceptional. I won't nitpick and bore with a full review. Nothing, or no one is perfect. The build quality and sound quality are exactly what I expected. Very pleased!

Comments about Yamaha Network 5.1 ch Network AV Receiver:

I upgraded a previous Yamaha receiver to get new features, such as USB input on front panel and HDMI connections. Overall enjoying the RX-V475 and my only "Con" so far is the volume seems very low when using surround sound while watching movies. I have HDMI connection between receiver and DVD and TV and also optical connection between receiver and TV. I haven't yet optimized sound balance so maybe that's it. Will let you know.
