I went into buying this pretty blindly and I was limited in my selections, but I needed a portable unit right away. I liked this one because it had side-facing adjustable air deflectors. Most others had fixed louvers pointing up.

This was pretty easy to set up and straight-forward. The unit is pretty heavy, but given it's function, it's understandable.

I am happy with it's quality; it seems very well- made. I was pleasantly surprised that this was quieter than my window unit! On low it has a not-so-disturbing 'hum'. The compressor is very quiet. Turning up the fan speeds however make it a little noisier.

Cooling performance is pretty good. It takes a little while to get rid of the heat in the room, but it brought my room temperature down from 79 degrees F to about 70 degrees in about an hour or two. It's now night-time and its about 67-68 degrees with it running on low. I'm pretty sure my 5,000-BTU window unit would have had my room at a frigid 65 degrees or so.

I haven't figured out how the auto-evaporation works yet, but after a day and night of running it (just out of curiousity) I opened up the drain plug and it let out about 2 to 3 cups (little over 1 pint) of water. I think i'll drain it every now and then at my convenience.

Overall very happy with this unit - it does the job and keeps it comfortable and the portable unit solved my issue of birds building nests in my window and bugs inhabiting my room! This will be much easier to remove from my window (just disconnect the hose, or slip the rectangular piece right out and i'll have my window for the winter with no unit hanging out!

Decided to try a portable a/c as an alternative to my bulky, rattley window unit. It was more expensive than a comparable btu window unit, no doubt. But the install was so much easier, and if I want, I can move it from room to room no problem.

The portable doesn't cool as well as the window unit, but it gets the temperature down. I ran the unit all night with a target temperature of 70 degrees (just to test it) and it never got past 77.

I found that I had to turn my TV volume up louder than I ever had to before, but I really didn't think the portable was annoyingly loud. It was just consistent white noise, no rattles like the window unit.

Also looking forward to not hearing the summer downpours bounce off the window casing anymore.
