Laundry: Top-Loading vs. Front-Loading Washing Machines

Top-Loading vs. Front-Loading Washing Machines
If you're deciding between a front load and a top load washer, there are a few things to consider. If you're on a budget, top load washers will start at a lower price point. These lower price washers, however, will use an agitator to pull your clothes through the water, resulting in greater wear and tear on your clothing. They also use more water and energy than their counterparts. Front load washers are very popular today as they're more energy efficient and gentler on your clothes, saving you money in the long run. However, they will come at a higher cost. Today's high efficiency top load washers can clean your clothes without the use of an agitator. Instead, they use a wash plate located in the bottom of the wash basket to move the clothes against each other to help in the washing process. Today's high efficiency top load washers rival the most advanced front load washers. They're very gentle on your clothing while saving water and energy.
Top load high efficiency washers can be found in similar sizes to that of a front load washer, so if you're trying to decide between a high efficiency top load washer or a front load washer, it will really come down to your personal preference as both designs will provide great washing results.
