Rated 5 out of 5 by from All around great camera I bought this camera right after Christmas because it was on sale for my sister. I’ve used it a few times since then and have really enjoyed the camera. I think it would be a good camera for someone who is newer to DLSR photography. The battery life and the image quality are great. I like that the camera is a little more light weight than some of my others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to learn. I’ve taken about 500 pictures in my first week of owning the camera and have been really happy with the quality for price paid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera I bought this camera when it first came out. I used it very rarely. My friend borrowed it for one year. Then, 3 weeks ago my daughter and I went to Bali, Indonesia and I brought this camera. Whoa! I didn't know how good this camera is. It's just perfect the camera: the size, the quality of pictures and number of shooting options available. Just now, I upgraded it's firmware to 1.0.1 and I am eager to get out a shoot some more... I strongly recommend this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've ever owned My girlfriend surprised me at Christmas and gifted me this camera. She knew I was too frugal to buy one on my own. I guess she got tired of hearing me gripe about the mediocre pics I was taking with my phone and old Olympus digital. The Canon Rebel is a terrific camera. I was also suprised with a separate Canon 75-300 mm telephone lens which I use frequently, and often use it for fairly close-up shots. The camera features a seemingly infinite number of settings and options. I've committed seven or eight settings to memory, from frequent use. Admittedly, for many of the advanced settings and for rare configuration needs, I have to consult the manual. The photos are easy to download from the camera. I'm constantly being complimented for pics that I post. I can't wait until the leaves are out on the trees where I live so that I can start taking shots without the background being dominated by grays, whites and blacks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for photo enthusiast as well as experts I brought this camera 2 years ago and fall more in love with it each day. It is easy to shoot with, small enough to carry In all shooting settings, and has a huge selection of lens that can be used to shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Camera I have always loved Canon, I owned a Powershot A620 when it was released in 2005, but soon failed on me in 2013. Then I recently upgraded my camera in 2015 w/ EOS Rebel SL1 & the quality is still high grade just like my older canon. The freatures & settings it has delivers AMAZING professional photo quality without even photo shopping it. It captures the beauty of nature in Hawaii so perfectly. :) love this camera. Highly recommend buying this if this will be your first professional camera. Big Tip, read the instruction manual on each of the setting so you can capture great pictures. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Camera I am an amateur photographer and have been taking photos as long as I can remember. I bought this camera back in 2013 around the time when it just came out. I can not say enough how wonderful this camera is and how much it has exceeded my expectations. It works in every way that I've wanted it to from slowing down the shutter speed to take lighting pictures to taking clear quality photos at sporting events. It still continues to amaze me how wonderful the pictures turn out. With having smaller hands, being lightweight and smaller in size compared to other DSLR's is perfect and it doesn't make me feel that I don't have complete control of the camera. Perfect in every way and it will not disappoint!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little camera Very compact, easy to carry around everywhere I go, fits easily in my bag. Good image quality, and also compatible with old ef lenses without issue. And its light weight makes hours of shooting way less straining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Buy This camera was given to me as a Christmas gift after using a Sony for part time, on the side fun. But holy cow did this little beauty ignite a world of opportunity. I am very young and this was the perfect beginners camera for anybody wishing to pursue photography in any shape or form. It's incredibly lightweight and small, and by looking at it based on that premise, no way could anybody imagine what this camera is capable of. It takes excellent images in automatic function, but even better in manual (of course if you're aware of how to use manual). Images come out crisp, colorful, and beautiful. I can't stress enough how user friendly it is, but while still maintaining close to professional grade images. The SL1 has jumpstarted business for me and I will be shooting my first wedding next month using this camera. Canon has definitely snagged themselves a new lifetime customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best investment ever. I simply love this camera. It is light, powerful, and just amazing. I love going out to take photos with it. It is very easy to use and carry. Also, shooting videos to upload on the web, are very nicely captured by this camera. So far I have had no issues by using various lenses on the camera. I love my camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Little DSLR I bought this beauty in July 2012 and played around with it for a bit, shooting simple shots outside of our home, not adjusting any settings, I read the manual but I just like to keep it simple. I was moving from my Canon point and shoot (which I still love) to something a little more robust. Just recently I really started taking off buying more lenses (4 new ones) and an extra battery, this is a big deal for me. I absolutely love this camera and all of the great Canon lenses I have purchased. The camera is super light and the photos you can take with this just on AUTO, they look amazing, trust me. It is THE next camera you need from a point and shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a dream to sue I purchased this camera to replace my aging Rebel (as in the first) and have been very pleased with every thing about it. The weight and fit is great, I am able to balance all three of my lenses 18-55, 55-250, 70-300 without issue. Learning to use the camera has been fun, exposing the use of the large display screen. I take this camera with me everywhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from first dslr, satisfied i was sweating over whether to get this or the t5i. i borrowed a friend's t5i for a couple of weeks and sure, the articulating screen seems to provide better protection for the lcd screen yet other than that, i personally didn't find it to be that big of a deal and i don't plan on taking selfies anytime soon. i figured i would go with the sl1 and i'm glad i did; great entry-level dslr and i can take it anywhere without making it look too obvious. i recommend this to anyone else looking to start using dslr cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Little SLR I've owned a variety of Canon cameras, both point and shoot and SLR Rebels. When the SL1 came out, I bought it right away for the small size and put away my Canon 60D. I haven't gone back. I love the small size of the camera body and have now purchased all the STM lenses also. I primarily use the white EF L 70-200 lens or the EFS 17-55 lens. I also like the new 24 mm pancake lens. My only complaint is that there hasn't been a second edition of this camera nor a firmware update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this camera! Purchased this camera to replace a ten year old Rebel XT. The old DSLR menus drove me crazy and I had stopped shooting over the last few years. The SL1 is defintitely the bee's knees! I'm 6 ft tall with medium sized hands and this camera fits comfortably into my grip. The kit lens is superb for a zoom and only bettered, IMO, by my Canon 50mm prime lens - and not by much at that! I fully agree with the reviews which state the SL1 is capable of image quality equal to (m)any Canon consumer level DSLR. I'm simply knocked out by the shots this camera/lens combo can provide for such a low price. Once you've gone over the owner's manual, there's nothing I can imagine seriously needing that isn't here in the functionality of the SL1. I see no reason to move up in price to the T5i unless you really, really either find the SL1 too compact for large hands or you just feel you absolutely need a bigger DSLR to look more like a real photographer. The SL1 will do everything that's important to taking a good photograph that the T5i will do, IMO, with one exception. I also have a Canon SX50 superzoom which simply beats the socks off the competition when it comes to close up/macro work. The articulating LCD on the SX50 makes getting close ups of close to the ground or above my head shots quite a simple matter. The LCD of the SL1 is fixed, which means I have to get down farther or go up higher to take some shots. Still, for the price difference between the SL1 and the T5i, I wouldn't have paid the extra just for the articulated screen. I've cleared out a lot of lenses and accessories from my DSLR's bag and can now carry the SL1 AND the SX50 in one kit and not have any shot missed. I learned photography on a Canon way back in the 1970's and have stayed with Canon ever since. I prefer an optical viewfinder over the lower rez EVF's and the SL1's is superb! So tit for tat, the SL1 still beats out my other choices. The SL1 works perfectly with my older Canon lenses and, if you aren't getting an EF lens to perform well on the SL1, I'd say you've misread the instructions or your lens has gone kaflooey. The APS-C sensor and DIGIC 5 processor work wonderfully well together. You'd really have to have a very specific reason to not like this combination IMO. I'm not much on constantly swapping for the latest technology and I expect the SL1 will be with me for many, many creative years of shooting. This is, IMO, THE value leader in consumer level DSLR's and even if something new comes along, I'll probably be too old at that point to actually notice an incrementatl improvement in image quality. GET THIS CAMERA and stop sweating over what to buy. Go out and start shooting, the SL1 will not disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect DSLR? Moving up from a Canon point-and-shoot camera, I looked at a number of DSLR's before choosing the SL-1. I am really pleased that it takes great pictures even in poor conditions. Also important is that it's small and light. The two other things that I think are important is that you can treat it like a point-and-shoot if you want. Take off the lens cap, flip the switch to turn it on (it's the switch labeled On and Off), hit the camera button to turn on the LED screen, and push the button to take the picture. The other thing is that are no buttons or whatever on the side of the camera where you would normally hold it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Clear Choice! The Rebel SL1 is an exceptional APS-C camera. I purchased the body only version and use it with upgrade EF and EF-S lenses. It does exactly what you need it to do without all the unnecessary bells and whistles commonly found are more expensive models. My only recommendation on this camera is to always have an extra battery on hand. The wonderfully small size comes at a price. I'm not going to get in to many specifics in this review. Most of my comments are personal opinion although I must brag about one particular feature. Rebel models have a dedicated AV (+/-) exposure bias button easily accessible on the back of the camera. I can't imagine not having that button on the back. I don't understand for the life of me why supposed "advanced" camera models omit this feature. Being able to quickly and easily manually bracket exposure is so important. Getting it right in the field is always the best way to go. The supposed "advanced" models require two additional steps while fumbling through the internal menus to adjust exposure bias. Upgrade Rebel cameras are well designed and beautifully user friendly for advanced shooters. I am so tired of reading negative comments from online technical reviewers referring to Rebel cameras as entry level. Are you people serious?! There is no such thing as an entry level DSLR. They are all capable of capturing amazing photos in the hands of experienced users. For me when it comes to APS-C Canon camera models, upgrade Rebels are the clear choice. The more I learn about advanced photography, the more I believe this. Much of what is fed to us online is hype. Use your Rebel with pride! They rock!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Camera! I got this camera to get started on photography. Before this, I used a vixia camcorder. It began to break down, and I was worried this couldn't replace it....I was wrong. I am stunned by the video quality. Also, just using 2 megapixels, images are insanely sharp. I was worried that this wouldn't be as good as the t5i....but it meets all of my standards. Also, battery life is extremely long, which I need for shooting. Canon-great job on this camera! Who knew so much could fit inside such a little thing?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EOS Rebel Review SL1 18-55 IS STM I have used previous Cannon Cameras and had a very disappointing battery experience. I would use the camera for about 2 hours and have only half of the battery left. That is not the case here. We have used this camera for about 6 hours and still have a full battery. So far the only downfall I have seen is you have to be close to take a close up shot of something. For intense if you wanted to take a shot of a small flower even with the lens zoomed in all the way you have to be relatively close. This can be fixed by purchasing a lens that can zoom in further. That is on great feature of the detachable lens style cameras. All that being said the standard lens that comes with the camera takes amazing shots for everything you can do with it. If you are looking to take camera shot from far distances this lens won't cut it, but if you are taking closer shots you will be amazed at how well the shots always turn out. The shutter speed of this camera is super fast in comparison to previous version of Cannon cameras I've used. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to make the next step up in digital cameras.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy with the Little White I own a 5D Mark III and of course love that camera but the weight makes it hard to carry back and forth to work everyday. I have been finding that I have been talking less images and really wanted to get back to photography. I looked at the mirrorless cameras and was about to buy one when this little WHITE camera popped up during my research. This camera is so light and FUN. It has (most) of the same dials, etc as the 5DMIII plus touch screen capabilities. The images (with the 18-55 STM and the 55-250 STM) are great. In most cases I do not see much difference between this and the 5DMIII,. People stop me to ask what white camera i have. Fun to use and great images - plus very light weight. Can't ask for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've been wanting to upgrade to a dslr camera for a while now, as I've been doing photography with an old digital camera with always blurry pictures. When I purchased it, they were telling me all these advanced features and upgrades and I said " it's okay, I'm not really that into photography like that, just novice." And I got the response "trust me, with this camera, you will be." Well, all the rest of the comments were right, I'm having so much fun learning the art of photography on this amazing camera! The image quality is great, and it is so much easier to use in many ways (especially with the fact that I have small hands!) It is so easy to handle, and to me, the photos look almost like a total professional took them, although I'm still a novice. I would recommend to anyone who either wants good quality photos easy, or is looking to use the manual mode and still have the capability of getting great photos! So, I think this is best for someone upgrading from a lower class dslr or starting photography, but knows that they will continue with it for years. Additionally, I love that it has a built in sensor cleaner! It puts some of my fears at ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well designed thought out camera All my Canon cameras are wonderful, but my SL1 is fantastic not only is it lightweight it performs as good if not better than my 60D and 7D in my opinion. Some of the photos I take can be magnified and still show great detail and sharpness. I still use my other canon camera regularly but my SL1 will be right with them. Fantastic camera!
