Worst toaster we've ever had!

Comments about Black & Decker 2-Slice Toaster - Black:
This toaster is incapable of a consistent operation. The first slice on the number four setting is barely toasted, the next is almost burnt, and the third is somewhere in between. Adjusting the setting only frustrates the situation.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

None of the elements heat evenly. Cord comes out of FRONT so useful cord is about 15". Numbers on selector are grey on grey. Can't see them.
Cheap, poor quality

Bought this about 4 years ago. The button won't stay down so it won't toast anymore. It also dropped crumbs on the counter. Not good quality.

Have had my toaster for some time now. Love it toasts perfect no matter what type of bread we use. Also I love cleaning it, the little tray perfect, Ok here come the BUT! I actually unplug mine and turn it upside dow and shake it and you should see the crumbs that come out, BUT if you look inside it is still crummy. Under the cage that holds the bread , how in heavens name can you get to that? Tried tooth brush other soft bristle brushes and still cannot get those crumbs out. Where is my Martha Stewart to help me clean?? Thanks for listening!! BUT help!

One result I expect from a toaster is that the bread be toasted evenly on each side. This one toasts one side more than the other; I will be returning it and buying a different model or brand.
Didnt last more than 6 weeks

I bought this toaster and it decided to stop working less than 6 weeks later. The lever wouldn't stay down and would not toast all together. First and last B&D purchase.
Okay for a cheap toaster, BUT....
I bought two of these toasters about a year ago, not expecting a great toaster because of the price. I did expect them to last a bit longer than they did. It did an okay job at first, then began burning my toast in spots and the guides bend and get stuck on the tracks. Don't waste your hard earned cash on this one, it doesn't hold up to regular use.

the first one I had only 3 months this one I have had for about 6 months. I live alone so it does not get had use. it will not keep the bread down so it will toast. Intertek 400422 is the # on the bottom. the color is red Have you had a lot of trouble with this one????? the first one I cut the cord and sent it back to your company. I paid the shipping cost . I do not a receipt after all this time is there any thing your co. does to help out a customer. I would like a e mail if any thing could be done. THANK YOU, betty
Works as advertized
I have been using this model toaster for a couple of years now and have not had a bit of trouble with it. It does everything it's supposed to do flaelessly. Having read the negative reviews I can conclude that the complaining users did not read the instruction manual and simply shoved bread in the slots and expected that the toaster knew what they wanted. The buttons for bread, bagles, frozen and reheat are there for a reason. Read the manual (available on this site if you don't have the original) and enjoy this toaster to its fullest.
