Comments about KitchenAid 30" Slide-In Electric Range - Stainless Steel:
While I have only had my stove installed for a week, my experiences so far have been great. The oven bakes beautifully, maintains an even temperature and is a vast improvement over my previous 28 year old Jenn Air. Down draft seems adequate so far. Still working at getting to know the various levels of heat from the elements however, the rear left burner boils water quickly. Great!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Not overly impressed
from Atl Ga
With the touch screen control panel , when you lean over to stir pots on the back burners or if you're cleaning your body will reset the oven and clock every time. This range scratches VERY easily. I can't sit any pans out of the oven on the stove top as it will scratch. I have had to have a heating element replaced. This stove which is very pricey came with one of the eyes not functioning. I do love how the oven cooks so even and quickly.

We replaced an 18 year old Jenn aire that was very tired and expensive to fix. I would suggest you find installers that know what they are doing because we had to also get counters cut to fit this range. Heats to perfection, and have not noticed the outside being hot at all. Stove top is also great and heats very fast!!! So happy we got this range!!!
Nice Downdraft Stove
from Easton, Wa
I would recommend this product with a caution statement. If you live in a rural area you will probably not be able to find anyone to install the Downdraft unit. Even Kitchenaid did not have a serviceman for our area. That said, and after visits to five hardware stores, we were able to install it ourselves.

We had to wait for two months for the range to come in as it had to be manufactured, and was late shipping. Build quality is very good. Looks great Controls are difficult to become accustomed to. Not happy with how it maintains surface temperature, but we may get use to it. The oven takes 30 to 45 minutes to preheat to 350 or 400 degrees. Unacceptable! Will be calling selling dealer for a warranty service call. The auto conversions built into the convection "easy bake" feature is great! Not to happy about having to buy new pots and pans because of the glass top does not accommodate cast iron, or copper bottom cookware that we already had! We did not know we would have to spend over $3000.00 for the range plus another $500.00 in pots and pans! Rediulous! There is still a "burn off" smell associated with the use of the oven. Not too happy about that since we have used the oven many times. Like I said, we will be calling th dealer to see if there are issues associated with this range.

SELF CLEANING OVEN DOES NOT WORK
Its amazing than in the 21st century they sell an stove without a self cleaning oven. For the first time in my life I have to spend time and great amount of effort cleaning the oven. I would return the stove if I could.Their claim that it has a great new system is bogus, NO OVEN CLEANING, BE AWARE!!!!Sooo disappointed, called Customer Service and all I could get is "Unfortunately.....the new system does not clean the walls not the top wall, and unfortunately the new system will only clean the bottom of the oven if its lightly dirty. Well good luck trying to use your oven without getting anything on the walls or the top. Awful experience
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

As others have noted, we had to replace a dead Jenn-Air. Yes, the installation switchover is not an easy one, but I did the work myself and it all came out fine in the end (took some time for sure). The design of the downdraft system allows the oven to be larger and that is a great thing. The oven has 2 lights and makes the cavity look very large as one checks on the backing progress. Innovative shelf system is nice and we look forward to some steam baking as well as checking out the steam cleaning process, which sounds much nicer than the old "high heat" ash systems. We have no issue at all with the downdraft system, it seems to have plenty of air flow. The burner use possibilities are nicely varied and we have enjoyed the flexibility allowed. All in all to this point, we are very happy with the range even thought it appeared to be our only option for an island slide-in downdraft range.
