Excellent for consumers on a budget.
I had this range hood installed and the filter works quite well. What I like about this range hood is that it takes in all the cooking filters when in use. I also like the two speed controls and range light which makes cooking in an apartment quite simple. The filter however needs to be changed every six months and that part is easy. Whirlpool as a list of parts that can be brought on it's website that will be delivered in a few days. I also bought an extended warranty in case the range hood should either break down or fail. P.C. Richard is reliable.

The Icing On The Cake
We recently purchased this to go with our new Whirlpool range. The brushed stainless finish goes perfectly with the range. The fan is so quiet you'll forget it's on. Terrific hood for a non vented one. Looks sleek. It's a great addition to our vacation house kitchen.

Cadillac look at a great value
We removed an over the range microwave oven and replaced it with the Whirlpool range hood. The fan is whisper quiet at both low and high speed. The stainless finish enhances the stainless finish on the range. Installation was a breeze.

Great price, nice look, quiet fan
We are extremely happy with this hood. It was easy to install and has the quietest fan we've ever heard. The fan power is a little weak so if you want a high powered hood, this is not for you. However if you're looking for something stylish, quiet and priced well, this is a winner. We would purchase this item again.

Works well, lights run hot.
The hood works as intended. No problems. Clean lines, simple use, not overly loud, yet functional. The top of the unit does get hot if lights are on for a while though. Could have been insulated from the heat a bit more, but minor thing. Only notice when turning off unit (buttons on top, right above lights).

You get what you pay for
Bought from a different site but this model. The exterior is fine, the light is great, but my biggest complaint is that looking up at it from the stove, all you see are cut-outs and screws inside the hood both on the underside and the back. I can see cabintry thru the holes in the hood. I'm 5'6 female so it's not like I'm crazy short to see it all. The fan is fine but in our case the vents are stuck between the upper cabinet and the hood. We'll live with it till we buy another. Very disappointed since it's a Whirlpool.

poor fan suction
I bought this a week ago and when it was installed and I got home to hear the fan I said is the fan on?? Yes it was, both speeds sound the same so I am thinking either something is wrong with the fan( which I think there is) or this is a terrible product. I have a tech person coming to check it out, but from the reviews its seems like the same problem. Also from afar you can see the vent screen which I don't like but I guess I can live with it. The 60watt bulb makes it very bright maybe a bit too bright. Not sure I am going to be happy with this new hood. Hoping to upgrade if they let me but from the other reviews its seems the same THE FAN. I had a prior Whirlpool hood wish I didn't throw it out. Let you now what happens in a few weeks when they come to look at the hood.

Useless
Moved into a rental last week. This over range hood fan provides almost no suction to pull smoke and cooking smells out. The fan can't be more than 6 years old which is when this place was built. We have to leave the windows open when we cook which is OK when it is 75 degrees in Vermont. But at 20 degrees in a few months, that will not be an option. Today the fire alarm went off because of cooking smoke. Again, disappointing to have such a useless fan.

Fan doesn't work on low
My fan barely turns on the high setting. Sometimes I have to help it get started by turning the fan blades. It doesn't run on low setting.

Poor Airflow
I installed the hood and observed very poor airflow on high speed.I verified the short discharge duct to the outside louver was free of obstructions and it is. The airflow is not sufficient to open the plastic louvers on the side of the house. Even with the fan operating on a table - with no discharge duct restriction, airflow is poor. I hope I am able to return the hood without the box - I threw the box away because I figured the low airflow was related to a discharge duct restriction but it was not - unfortunately it took me a month to determine this.
