The salesman has told me to do so every six months and I've been following his advice ever since. This keeps me healthy and keeps my refrigerator running in top shape.

As for the reviewers who stated the filter kept popping out, did they read the directions? There are two plastic caps covering the prongs in the back which need to be removed before the filter can snap into place.
