The Max sounded so good I bought another to see how they would sound in stereo. Does widen the sound stage and improves spatial image and fidelity.
The Max is s little heavy to just carry around but the Flex 2 (which I also own) sounds almost as good (lacking the bass , volume and play time) is more portable.
Musically the Max (especially in stereo) is a great choice for a compact audio system in an average room. Volume is adequate for most users. I can’t rate it for “party of 20” as advertised (an odd speck IMO) but it does play louder than most people would expect.
1. Bass -good
2. Mids -good
3. Highs - good but could be better
4. App equalization is minimally useful but probably adequate for most people
5. Battery life - have used approximately 2hr a day for a week- battery still at 70%
6. Pricey - I got mine on sale but still $$$
7. They would not pair in stereo if they both were connected to my phone. I almost returned the 2nd unit until I watched a youtube video where the guy paired the speakers before pairing the phone. That sequence worked well and afterwards the first speaker would pair with the phone and the second speaker would then synchronize with the other speaker as expected.
8. I’d rather be able to do the sync with the app rather than physically using the buttons. It would be more convenient if the speakers could find each other and connect without having to physically connect them and remember the set up when turned on.
9. The loud sound on start up and announcements should be able to be turned off and or volume controlled.
10. Pairs should be offered in a stereo package at a discount.
11. The Max is not an audio purist dream, but is a very good choice for a portable speaker that is twice as good in stereo.

Excellent sound
The clarity & loudness are what i really am impressed with. I also bought a turtle box speaker and it does not compare. I only with it had the firmware to pair multiple Bose speakers to that i can get a true immersive feel out by the pool. Four or even six. Would be awesome.

Love my new speaker - has great sound with deep bass. Volume loud enough for a party. Easy to carry around. We use it inside and in our backyard. Looks cool too. Very happy with the purchase. Hope it lasts as long as my old one (over 10 years)

The Replacement
I replaced my Bose sound mini link I had when Bose first released it. The Sound Max is heavy but the sound it impeccable! It’s great having a speaker that you can hear EVERY instrument or sound of a track! And that is what I get out of the sound max!

Outstanding sound quality, rich & full.
I grew up listening to CD's on a true stereo in the living room. The music was awesome and full bodied. I carried forward that expectation of sound quality. Alas, streaming music sounds thin and most portable speakers sound small and tinny. The sound quality was gone. Well... Not the case with this speaker! The music sounds rich and full again. I'm totally impressed and the battery really lasts. Thank you, Bose! This speaker really knocks my socks off! Well done! 😎

3rd time’s (purchase) a charm because I’m in LOVE
I recently purchased the soundlink max and I must say, I am very impressed. This is the 3rd Bose speaker I’ve purchased and I am never disappointed…they simply outdo themselves with every new addition to the Bose lineup! The clarity and quality are always top notch, the battery life is impressive and the sound gets louder than I originally expected. Definitely worth the upgrade!

Awesome product
There are several things i like and enjoy about this item. One is the battery life. About 20 hours. Very portable. The connectivity is versatile as I have it connected to three of my devices. Not at the same time of course. The loudness is mind blowing. And the clarity is superb. I do recommend this unit for any activity you may put it through. I personally use it to travel with in my vehicle.

Great clarity and pleasing sound. Battery life is astounding. I’ve listened to relaxing music while sleeping for the last three nights and it’s still 80% charged.
Solid construction. Feels premium in touch sound and visually. Piano music is very pleasing. Voices are clear.

Great speaker
