Great coffee maker... it was exactly what we were looking for.
Love this coffee maker. works great, easy to set up and use. Makes amazing coffee. I'm wanting to use paper filters but I'm honestly having a hard time finding ones that are large enough. I bought a package of 8-12 cup size but they still overflow. making a huge mess. I was hoping to get away from the gold filter for less residue in the cup. Has anyone found a paper filter large enough yet?

Good coffee
This is my first high end coffee maker and I am very happy. This brewer makes a cheaper "grocery store" coffee and makes it taste like a more expensive coffee. When using coffee from a local coffee roaster, it brings out the flavors of that coffee.
I generally use the cone filter, making 1 liter with 55 grams coffee. Gold setting is very good.

I had been using a Keurig. I had to add half and half to my coffee. This makes such a good cup of coffee. I can ditch the half and half. It’s very easy to use.

Fantastic coffee maker
After a month of comparing various brands and scouring reviews, I decided to purchase the Precision Brewer with the thermal carafe. I am so smart!
This machine makes fantastic coffee, minus all the bitterness from other drip machines and having the thermal carafe was a game changer for that second (or third!) cup. We have only used the "Gold" setting - because it's so good we figured why fiddle with it, but if you are a coffee engineer there are so many customizations you can do for your "custom" brew.
Easy to clean, although I wish the water tank was removable so that the small amount that remains after each brew cycle could be dumped. Otherwise, I am very happy with the choice. Not the most expensive coffee maker, but on the higher end for drip. Worth every penny (although a sale would have been a nice bonus :) ).

Almost perfect
This is the best drip coffee maker I’ve ever used. I’m a coffee snob—I roast my own coffee and I once worked along side one of the premium coffee tasters/graders in Switzerland. For my tastes, nothing beats a well roasted coffee bean in a drip coffee where all the tasting notes of origin come through. This machine delivers.
The “almost perfect” is because the carafe top can’t be opened up for cleaning. That’s it. Otherwise this is delightful.

The new brewer has all the features needed to dial in your favorite type of coffee. I love to adjust the temp, the flow and with 2 basket options I can choose v-60 or traditional basket style.

Great features and incredible tasting coffee
I bought this unit about a month ago and I am so glad I did. I love all the features, especially how long the coffee stays hot. This unit brews a very tasty cup of coffee. We have not been to a coffee shop since using this unit. Our only complaint is that while brewing you can’t smell the coffee. Highly recommended this unit.

Very Happy With This Coffee Maker!
Gentlemen, raise your hand if you’re one of those guys who annoys your wife with never ending research before buying a product? Well, I’m one of those guys. So after much research of reading reviews, watching videos, and comparing prices, I decided to pull the trigger on this Breville coffee maker. I’m very happy with it for a number of reasons: coffee taste better than old coffee maker, coffee is hotter both right after brewing and after sitting in carafe for hours, it’s quiet, it’s easy to clean and it looks great on our counter. Don’t be swayed by the negative and picky reviews.

Great coffeemaker
I bought the coffee maker a few weeks ago and so far it works great. Great tasting, hot coffee. I love all the features and the coffee does not take long to make. I had a few coffee makers in the past and this is the best. The machine is quiet and very easy to use. It leaves a few ounces of water in the water receptacle, but if you make coffee everyday it's not an issue, if I go on vacation then I just have to remember to dry it out. No real negatives and I'm a coffee person.

My Breville works like a charm

I’ve bought several Breville items in the past, one of the was the coffee brewer that grinds the beans. I loved it and had this for many years. I wanted to upgrade and buy a new one. Lots of flexibility in how you brew your coffee.
Our old Bunn coffee maker was on its last legs. We looked at the reviews and were impressed with what was being said about the Breville. So we tried it. It took some trial and error, but have found a method that we like for our coffee. We started out using the mesh basket and thought the coffee was too bitter. We switched to the round basket with a paper filter. It was much better. E think it is even better when we are using a special grind. We also like the timer feature. Set it at night and coffee is ready when you get up. One less chore to do in the morning. It’s great.

Fully Programable and Great Coffee
I was in the market for a new coffee machine. I looked at reviews in Cooks Illustrated and they recommended this coffee maker. I thought long and hard about the price and finally decided to make the purchase. I love the fact that I can have it preset to come on in the morning. I also am a coffee lover and really enjoy being able to set my own controls.

Best purchase
I researched coffee pots a lot before making the investment. This was a huge upgrade for us and I’m so glad we chose this one. The coffee is very smooth and we consistently get a good cup of coffee. The thermal carafe keeps coffee warm for almost 4 hrs. We are very pleased.

Long Term Review
I've owned this machine for over 3 years and use it daily. Honestly, it has become somewhat of a treasured possession (Christmas gift from my wife), so I figured I owed it to Breville to submit a quick endorsement.
I typically brew around 20oz, using the conical filter basket insert on the Gold setting (unfortunately, my wife is just not a coffee drinker, so I feel I rarely get to flex the machine to its full capabilities). I've brewed as little as 15oz with the same setup and as much as 60 with the gold filter basket because of friends visiting. On every occasion, my machine has brewed a delicious pot of coffee. There is good adjustment to be had with different settings (make sure you adjust the setting for which size brewing basket you're using, for example), and the cold brew feature is a fun change of pace as well.
For maintenance, I run a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar/water through once every few months...aside from wiping down the machine, washing the parts, and occasionally removing the seal ring (the water sprayer thingy) to clean, that is all the care that has been required. Although a bunch of the parts are dishwasher safe, I don't recommend it, as some dishwashing pods seem to have lingering aromas/tastes that they leave around on plastic parts.
To address some of what I have read in other reviews:
- Yes, you may have a small (tiny) amount of water sit in the very bottom of the tank where the wire screen is.
- Yes, the top of the carafe is hard to empty completely because of the plastic lip of the handle.
- Yes, if you put 20oz of water in, you will not get 20oz back into the carafe
- I can't speak on temperature issues, but I've never had any
While I quickly recognized most of these shortcomings, they just have never really become an issue. With regular use, the water in the bottom has never gotten nasty or caused a problem. I make sure I clean the underside of the carafe lip well with a sponge and rinse thoroughly, never had a problem with the few drops of water that may remain. And of course, any coffee maker is going to have a small amount of water left in the filter/grounds...I add in a little extra water to compensate if I want that exact amount. Not to minimize what other people are saying, I have just never had an issue with those things.
Well done, Breville. I am happy to see that this machine is still in production and hope you continue to support it for years to come.

Coffee that's fresh, never burned! My husband gets up at least an hour before I do and the first thing he does is make coffee. By the time I pour a cup, it's been sitting, so having a carafe and not a burner, means hot coffee that tastes fresh, for up to 4 hours! Love the stainless steel and it matches our Breville espresso machine.
