Overall it is a great product, BUT I believe the supplied literature should not only provide installation instructions but include specific instructions on care. I have yet to figure out how to remove the filter for cleaning. The unit has a little tab that looks very flimsy and I'm afraid to apply too much pressure during the removal process. I've searched for videos and literature but have been unsuccessful. I'd appreciate help on this subject.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would purchase this again. The product is well built and it is fairly quiet when in use. The only change I would like to see is in the lighting. To me, it is archaic, in this time, to create a product without LED lighting. The standard bulbs for this product burn very hot, and the socket is such that it is not easy to find LED bulbs that fit. I would have given the product a 5 if the vendor had supplied two LED bulbs that fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sleek look. Highlights the white cabinets and black appliances. Only problem is the bulbs burned out after only about one hour of use. So hot I could not touch them. Replaced with LED and had no more heat coming off if the bulbs. Luckily they burned out before handing over keys to buyer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Grease/Smoke getting pulled through the lights I bought this to use as a ventless operation. Installed per instructions and included the charcoal grease filters. First use when frying up some steak for a beef stew had most all of the grease/smoke going up through the light sockets instead of where the mesh and charcoal filter are located. I assume there are no filters over the light sockets to sort of makes it a waste.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Model BCSD142SS - Terrible Light Placement Since this is a special order unit and not carried in any retail store or home improvement warehouse in stock, the packaging pf this unit needs to be stronger for shipping purposes, more reinforcement and heavier duty cardboard and inside packing material. One of the filters was received warped and bent, had to straighten to make it fit in the area. The placement/location of the two lights is ridiculous which are in the very front of the unit (and in my situation) they shed the light outside of the cooking area!!! not directly were they're supposed to. Installing the recommended halogen 50WATT MR16 (LED lights are not recommended by Broan) with the GU10 base - which must be purchased at an additional cost - even with the included suction cup supplied by Broan is an exercise in acrobatic contortion!!! An insane design. The Halogen bulbs are very HOT even as soon as they turn on!. These bulbs are not included with the unit and are not readily available in stores in California, have to be ordered online. Also another con is that the damper for 7" vertical installation needs to be purchased and is not included with the unit, although damper for 3 1/4" X 10" size is included. On the plus side - the fan is quiet and does a great job of exhausting smoke and odors from the cooking area even on a low setting.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great looking but light doesn't work The guide rails were a good idea but confusing and wouldn't work in my kitchen. After 45 minutes of trying to figure the instructions out I hired an installer who didn't use them. Installed it looks great but, unfortunately, the light bulb sockets are of poorest quality. The left light was difficult to install and the right went in easily but does not work. After all that work the unit is going back.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Engineering The most serious engineering flaw with the Broan range hood is the placement of the halogen lamps at the front underside of the hood. I personally observed steam, smoke and cooking odors when cooking on the front burners being drawn directly to the lights from the heat produced by the lamps. Even when the exhaust fan is running at high speed, it only draws a portion of the steam, smoke and odors up through the exhaust. I believe placing the lamps near the rear underside of the hood would allow the exhaust to run more efficiently and effectively. An optional metal back splash would also add more style and a more useful tool for utensils.

There isn't any charcoal filters anywhere for this fan. There isn't any on the Broan site. Thought,when I need the regular filters they will probably be discontinued as well.I wasted enough time on filters already so I got rid of that hood fast. After reading the reviews I am glad I did.
