Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny I scoured the internet for days to find my next AV receiver. Considering the features for the price, no other receiver matched the AVR-970H for my budget. As I was upgrading from a 20 year old Yamaha, produced before HDMI was a thing, I really didn't understand how everything was going to work. And the first day with the Denon was rough. Hard learned lesson: Check for a firmware update before you do anything else! After taking the time to set everything up, including figuring out the Inputs grid, I am extremely pleased with this machine. I worried that the 90W output was too low, I had 110W previously, but it sounds like it drives the speakers harder, which was a nice surprise. I appreciate the flexibility in assigning the second zone. I'm enjoying a 7.1 configuration now, but I'll swap to a 5.1 and put zone 2 speakers outside for the summer time. In which case, the HEOS functionality and app have been a pleasure. They suffer from a lack of basic music player functions, like, why can't I access my Playlists from the receiver directly?!? I don't want to open the app when I'm sitting in front of the receiver, remote in hand. Oh well, once it's playing, it's working well for us. In terms of driving sound, I give this receiver a 10/10. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent AVR Heck of an upgrade over my 10 year old Onkyo home theater in a box AVR. It has 3 4k 120hz inputs. The AVR 960 that I was considering only has 1. I have an XBOX, PS5 and a 3080Ti connected to the AVR970. No problem passing the XboxSX/PS5/PC 4k 120hz, VRR (PC GSYNC) output to my LG C1. Audio quality with the 970 driving my old Onkyo speakers is much better than I had expected. Very excited for my new Polk speakers to arrive! As a gamer and movie lover, I highly recommend the 970.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's not just about the receiver The receiver has worked flawlessly. The sound is crisp the video shockingly clear. Moreover, pr equally important, is the company that stands behind their products. Responsive with questions. Helpful. Supportive. I will never buy from another AVR maker again. Been through 2 competitors. Nightmarish experiences. Never again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good for Bluetooth, movie sound is good. i have had Denon in the past and found it to be a good overall receiver for home theater. I started with a 650H, which was great. i had issues where the sound after a few minutes of Bluetooth would get shaky, almost in/out treble or someone turning it up and down. the Bluetooth was connected but would cut in and out for a bit, then completely out. I bought the 970 in hopes maybe the other one was a fluke, however I'm experiencing similar issues with ONLY the Bluetooth now. Sound is doing the exact same thing, but Bluetooth hasn't been disconnecting. I have connected for 20 minutes total, as I listen to music/podcasts for hours, this issue is turning me away from Denon's products.
