Good spend!
A little heavy, but much better function than v10 we wore out! Love the large vacuuming area, bigger capacity, and better attachments.

Great investment
I purchased my Next Gen about 2 weeks ago. The green light technology was an eye opener. The hard floor head is quiet and does a great job of picking up the dog hair and dirt. I like the auto setting for suction based on need. Not having a trigger is awesome since my hands are too big for my previous 8 Dyson. I ended up cracking the housing over time due to lack of space for my hand. I highly recommend the Next Gen.

Another Great Dyson!
I have had the machine for about a month. I have had several Dyson stick vacuums so I have had a lot to compare to. I felt like this one was a bit heavier than I expected. However, I got used to it. I do absolutely love having an on off button rather than a trigger. It seems to have very good suction. It is nimble to use. I like the fluffy head and laser for the hard floors. All in all there is a lot I like about it and not hardly anything I don't like.

Gen5 Dyson is great!
I am pleased that I purchased the Gen5 Dyson as it has proven to be better than the older V11 Dyson that it replaced. Particularly useful is the light on the hard floor cleaner. It reveals dust and debris that heretofore went unnoticed. The automatic suction control is convenient and certainly makes for longer battery life.

Love this Dyson, suction +, the light on the brush head for flat floors is the amazing!!! Quiet as far as vacuums go, 2 batteries recommend. The way the brush head rotates to get in tight places, corners, crevices-super. 1 recommendation: after 30 minutes of use the hard plastic rubs the arm raw. Adding some soft cushioning around the handle grip between area that comes in to contact with webbing between thumb and forefinger would be +++

Amazing
I am loving it! I vacuumed with my old vacuum, then opened the package, assembled the new Dyson, charged the battery and tired it out. I noticed it picked up a lot more dust and dirt that was left behind, so I vacuumed the whole house. It has amazing suction, and I couldn't believe how much dust . I love the fact that it is cordless. I can do my vacuuming in half the time. It is easy to get under furniture and I am amazed with the powerful performance of such a compact, easy to use machine.
It is also not too noisy, and my dogs are not as afraid of it as they are my old vacuum.

great vac
exceeds expectations. previous battery vacs only lasted a short time and lacked in suction, even old Dyson. this has as much as my plugin, super easy to use, came with 2 batteries easy to swap out and each battery runs a little over 30 min. so far, very happy. (it is a little noise but not bad)

Power and long lasting battery time per use.
I love Dyson Gen5detect absolute. It’s powerful and has a long lasting battery. I get up to an hour of usage. That’s twice the time of my precious stick vacuum.

Not your Mama's upright
I'm going from a 29 year old upright vacuum to the Dyson so yes I'm loving it. It's actually fun to vacuum. My daughter has an early model with a trigger. I like the button on this model...better with my arthritis. The dog doesn't attack it because it's so quiet. I might even get the grooming attachment! I was a little worried about not having a bag, but it's so easy and satisfying to empty it that I find I don't miss the bag at all. The way it lights up the dust with that one attachment is so cool. It's like playing a video game and sucking up all the tiny green monsters. The battery has way more endurance than I have. Playing on the floor with my grandson is such a better experience now. Thank you Dyson.

Would recommend.
Loving this vacuum. With a dog that sheds tons, the laser was quite the eye opener. We have light tile and I had no idea how dirty the floors were. It’s much easier to pull this out and do a quick pass on the daily.

Worth the cost compared to cheaper rivals
Compared to the previous generation top-of-the-line model the suction is more powerful and, with the wide cleaner head, gets the job done fast. The fluffy optic cleaner head with its laser is genius at helping to spot and pick up debris and pet hair on hard floors. The powered hand brush is great at getting pet hair off furniture. Battery life is impressive and having two batteries for extended use is a plus.
Be aware that tools and batteries from previous generation Dyson vacs may not fit the new model.

Excellent Vacuum, Highly Recommended
I have had a Dyson V8 for many many years and still works great. I wanted a Gen5 and finally got one. It is worth it. I use it on both rugs and bare floors and am alway amazed at the amount it picks up even when the area looks clean. The vacuum is well balanced so it takes not effort to push it, even on my deep pile carpet. I have vacuumed most the house and never run out of battery power. Since I have allergies I am very glad for the HEPA filtration. I would recommend to anyone.
