Beautiful picture
Bought as replacement for aging unit. Simple install and setup. All focus and unit adjustment internal, no ladder anymore. 13.5 feet side to side picture, better than real theatre any day.

Great projector
I don't know that there is more I can say than has been written. This is a well reviewed projector. I've had mine about a month, it has 50 hours on the bulb. It looks great! One of the main reasons I got it was for the lens memory and automated shift and focus. I set it up with a constant image height screen. In 16:9 mode, it's 110 inches, and in 2.4:1 it's 140 inch diagonal. It sits about 19 feet from the screen, and is mounted in a ventilated soffit near the ceiling.
My wife was not really happy about the price, and questioned the value. But now that it's installed, she loves it. It's a major step up from our previous inexpensive DLP Optoma projector. Far better blacks and contrast, much better sharpness and color. Just a different world in terms of picture quality and overall satisfaction. If you are on the fence, just get it. You won't be disappointed. No, it's not "real 4K" and no, nobody will know except you and other projector geeks. It looks fantastic.

great for playing games and watching movies
I've been enjoying this projector in the basement for two years now, for both playing games and watching movies in 4k. I'm a tiny bit disappointed for the lack of split screen for those impromptu LAN parties.

Wonderful picture. So glad I upgraded
I've had an Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080p projector for about 10 years, and it was a nice unit. This new one, however, is really a step up! Over twice as bright, plus it has motorized lens functions where the earlier one didn't. The only downside, in my view, is the much larger size, but thankfully I was able to deal with it without a lot of effort.
There are very few projectors available (at least that I could find) that would work in my theater; the distance to the 92 inch 16x9 screen is 16 feet. This projector's exceptional zoom capability allows this to work where most other projectors would need to be much closer to squeeze their image down to fit my screen.

Home Theatre Done Right!
I recently upgraded from the 4010 and the expense was well worth it. Outstanding picture quality, colors burst off the screen, definition and lighting are superb. I don't see how Epson could top this product.

Fantastic value!
I purchased this projector for my Covid basement theater build last summer. I had done tons of research previously and had my heart set on a Sony, but I really couldn't afford $5000 for their base 4K projector. After reading a ton of reviews and deciding a non-Native 4K projector was still worth it, I took the plunge with this 5050UB. Honestly, I can't be happier with my decision. I have it paired up with new Roku Ultra and Sony 4K Blu-ray player, projecting on a Silver Ticket acoustically transparent 110" 16:9 screen. I use a Harmony remote with RF with my equipment in the adjacent room. The 4K picture is excellent, and regular HD is still great. Since my purchase, I've realized the Sony would have frustrated me. Many movies are in 16:9 format, but many are not, especially older and non-4K ones. The motorized lens adjustments with presets have made that extremely easy. I would have had to do that manually unless I wanted to spend over $10,000 for that feature in a Sony.
I have this mounted on the ceiling. One bit of advice when installing and adjusting the picture for the screen (which wasn't clear to me in the instructions): If the projector isn't centered on the middle of your screen, that's ok.. but mount it pointing straight at the wall, not angled toward the center. You can use the lens shift to adjust for the location. You do NOT want to use the keystone correction because it will screw up your resolution. The lens shift works great.

Fast setup replacing my broken 5030UB!
We have only had this projector for a few weeks now, but so far it lives up to what we expect for Epson projectors. The new optics do make the image brighter at all color modes, and it has excellent color and sharpness. We have not watched a lot of media yet or fully tested the 4K (2K) experience, but based on what we have seen so far, this projector is perfect! Only time will tell, but hopefully it will last longer than the 4 years for our 5030UB.

Amazing picture quality!
Incredible picture quality and brightness, even with ambient lighting. Easy to set up and use. Some cosmetic tweaks: Would’ve been nice to have a white power cord (instead of black) to match the projector and blend in to the ceiling better or even better, a cover to actually hide the cord (like our previous 11-year-old Epson projector).

Fantastic projector
I purchased the 5050ub after using an 8350 for several years. The improvements are great across the board: brighter brights, darker blacks, better details. Motorized zoom, focus, and lens shift along with memory capability is fantastic. Not an inexpensive projector but a great value for what you get. I purchased after numerous recommendations from the AvRant podcast. Tom and Rob have recommended the 5050ub even prior to its release and the 5040ub prior to that. Thanks to them I knew exactly what to expect and how to get the most out of it.

What an improvement!
I bought this a little over a month ago when my venerable Christie Digital projector died, on Super Bowl Sunday... Took me some time to receive and then set up as I am not an AV expert. The support I received from local store was excellent- my main problem was getting to see the menu, which was out of focus and upside down since I mounted it on the ceiling. The picture is impressive, just in time to enjoy for a shelter-in-place requirement. Had an issue with it suddenly turning off for no apparent reason. Support on line was excellent- my Apple TV shut things down when it went to sleep when I switched inputs. Since buying I see the price has dropped, I wish they had a price match guarantee.

BEWARE if you have need horizontal keystone correction
I purchased the 5050UB as a replacement to my now defective 3020e. The anticipation of what I believed to be a significant upgrade was meet with somewhat mixed experience.
My 3020 was installed ~6yrs ago and worked great in my media room that required it to be installed on the ceiling in the corner of the room to avoid a ceiling fan. Picture was very good.
I purchased the 5050UB as a plug and play replacement but soon discovered that it did not share the same multi dimensional keystone correction as my 3020e.
Bottom line if you want to purchase the 5050UB be very sure that you have a nearly perfect projection path that is straight on to your screen or your picture geometry and pixel resolution will be seriously compromised.
Good news - the lens shift digital adjustment magically will correct the need for vertical keystone requirement. Meaning you can keep the projector up fairly high on the ceiling and shift the lens down to where it is virtually perpendicular to the screen.
Picture is as advertised when viewing full HD or 4K content. 720p or low HD not so good. So if you like to watch CBS content on DirecTV you will be disappointed.

Almost perfect...
Awesome projector but with only the slightest issues I have are:
1) Why is this projector white in color...should be black.
2) Lens shift memory save function a pain to set never stays where I set it to.
3) Blue lights for the power and status light to bright for light controlled theaters.

Stopped Working
This has had issues off and on since I first bought it. There are much better options out there - spend a little more on a more worthwhile brand and avoid disappointment.
