I was unaware of this when I purchased it. I also wish it had a drawer for deli meats. This is not a cheap appliance. You would think it would have the basic features. I love the counter depth feature and the smudge free stainless steel is so easy to clean.

It's very well arranged inside, including the freezer, and easy to use. The one and only complaint so far - it's a little bit noisy. I think that might be the fan that they mention in the manual (it's not a regular compressor-type noise). But otherwise, this is exactly what the doctor ordered for our specific kitchen size and layout, and we are highly satisfied.
