Rated 3 out of 5 by Anna from disappointing. Hoping it can be fixed Had it two months and it kind of works -- the room never gets cold but it cools down a bit. The machine is dripping water inside -- not outside the window but on the room side, control panel. Repair people are coming next week and I'll update this review if the machine works better or stops dripping after that. The NYC building I live in only allows tenants to buy one of three air conditioner models. This one got the best reviews and I stupidly thought the higher price might mean a stronger, quieter machine. However, this model is not strong enough to cool the large main room. On an 87 degree day it might, after four or five hours on maximum high, and with all shades pulled down, bring the temperature down to 72 or so. More like 75 or higher if lights are on or people are around. The coolest setting is 60 degrees. Given how weak the machine is for this apartment, I keep the setting at 60 all the time. I don't think it's gotten down to 60 degrees once. However, if you're in a 10 foot radius, you'll definitely feel the cool. Re noise: it's quieter than the 25 year old model I replaced, which sounded like a motorcycle. At maximum cool it's about as loud as being inside an airplane. Sort of a very loud white noise air-hum. Not terrible although I find I need earphones for zoom meetings. At lower settings, it's pretty quiet. Quiet enough. Quite quiet. Bottom line: not impressed. I'm not sure if I got a defective machine (given the leaking) or if my building installed it wrong, or if it's just too weak for this large room. But it's still better than the old dinosaur I had before.
