Manual is a no go to for me
I like the Forerunner 165 very much. However, the manual needs more detailed instructions and illustrations I call the support line to speak with a support team member in order to understand functions.

Like the trail run feature
I had a Forerunner 55 but realized it did not account for elevation and terrain. I would be helpful to say the algorithms for some trackers assume you are on flat ground. With the 165, I can use trail run which does account for terrain. I walk steep terrain at over 7000 ft and fast enough to use trail run which gives me more accurate information.

Perfect GPS watch
I bought this Forerunner to replace my reliable old Garmin after it passed away. It is perfect for mountain biking and the many other athletics I'm involved with. The battery lasts at least a week!

Great watch - even for senior cisizens
I purchased my Forerunner 165 because I was disappointed with the smart watch I had been using until now. My gripe was the short battery life – and that the newest model claimed longer battery life but turned out to be wrong.
The previous one would go 22+ hours until recharge. That was okay until it reached a point where it wouldn’t last that long. So I traded it in for the latest model and it was a disappointment. Then I decided to research alternatives.
The Forerunner 165 reviews indicated that it should last between 5 and 11 days depending on what functions are used. The watch has many functions that I just don’t use or need, being that I am a senior citizen and don’t do most of the activities the watch supports. But it has the basics and that’s all I need. So far through the first 2 charges it lasts 9 days. For me that is more than enough.
So yes – I am more than satisfied. The lower price is an added plus.

Fun watch
I considered an Apple watch but I wanted something more water resistant. This watch does so much more than my old Garmin 735XT. I had no idea technology had moved so far. It does everything I wanted to do and it’s not too complicated.

View exactly what you want to see!
Bought it about a month sgo.
After having used Fitbit for 14 years, and hearing both my son, who's a bike road racer, and numerous folks who raved about them in the Morpheus app group, I made the switch.
It's been amazing, truly. It allows you to customize each screen to see exactly what you want to see. A joy and delight to use..

Great value for money
If you need to read WhatsApp status discreetly this is the thing.. Lol. Well, it does well what it says to do. Great battery life 8 days, good HR monitoring, sleep analysis good though not top of the game at the price point fitbit does which is fine for me. Occasionally I use it for health, walk, sport purposes.

Perfect for active people.
Fantastic. I love every function and feature. Especially the alarm the silent vibration is SOOOOO important for someone who wakes up earlier than 5 regularly.
Tracking my runs and workouts and steps has been much easier and it’s helped my really get into running more.

Garmin watch
I have had my Forerunner for a little over a month and it is a huge step up from my Vivofit. I am happy with all the health features such as quality of sleep, heart rate, respiration rate, etc. that are easily viewed on my phone. Garmin makes an awesome product. Thank you!

Love the customization of activities as needed
I'm pretty pleased with my Forerunner 165. The price point was great for my athletic purposes, which is mostly running, kayaking and sailing. I had wished for specific activities like kayak and sailing, but then I discovered that I can create my own activities with custom displays and gestures etc. for those two missing activities, so my problem was solved easily enough. I replaced an ancient Garmin Vivo 3 watch with a very short battery life. Now I have a watch that runs about a week with full sensors on all the time, which is a nice change.
Oh, and I appreciate the sleep summaries, which although not entirely accurate (you need an ECC for that, I think), still provides me insights in my normal sleep cycle, based on pulse, movement and oxygen.
So I don't know how to compare this watch with the other models in the Garmin line, but I can say that I'm pleased with this one. Garmin knows how to make good instruments in general. This one was affordable to me.
