This versatile fitness companion strikes an impressive balance between serious athletic features and everyday wearability. The sleek, lightweight design transitions seamlessly from workouts to workdays, while the bright AMOLED display remains clearly visible in any lighting condition. Athletes particularly value the precise multi-sport tracking and detailed training insights, backed by reliable GPS and comprehensive mapping for outdoor adventures. The extended battery life, lasting up to two weeks, eliminates charging anxiety and enables consistent activity and sleep monitoring. While the interface may take time to master, the thoughtful combination of touch and button controls proves reliable in all conditions. The built-in LED light, though seemingly simple, has become an unexpectedly essential feature for many users' nighttime activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from useful features It is loaded with features that are useful to my training and the OLED display is easy to see except in direct sunlight. I also like the morning and evening daily reviews and prompts to log daily health habits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great new features I love this watch, the screen quality and durability are a most for this type of watches, the software works better than in the older models which makes it easy to use and understand, the lamp is a great and useful add-on which I really appreciate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 970!! I’ve been wearing a Garmin 945 LTE for years, and I absolutely loved that watch. Honestly, I didn’t think I needed to upgrade to the Forerunner 970. I figured it would just be a few minor improvements. Man, was I wrong. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, and the battery life has been incredible. I also didn’t think I’d care about the touchscreen, but I’ve actually grown to really like it. It’s fast, responsive, and makes navigating the watch much easier. The feature I never knew I needed? The built-in flashlight. Double-tap the hotkey and you’ve got light instantly. Whether I’m working, running early in the morning, or just trying not to wake the family at night, it’s become one of my favorite features. What has impressed me the most, though, is how much more accurate and refined everything feels compared to my 945 LTE. The sensors are noticeably better, and it’s obvious Garmin made major improvements under the hood. I’m honestly blown away by how much technology Garmin packed into this watch. If you’re on the fence about upgrading from an older Forerunner, I can confidently say it has been worth every penny for me. Now I’m just wondering… how is Garmin going to top this with the next flagship Forerunner?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An upgrade from the 965 Nice upgrade from the 965, especially the materials. Another excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Downgrade? So far so good. I like the touch screen. I had a FENIX 6 Pro before, and the Forerunner is lighter. Most of the functions are easier to access, a few are a little more difficult. I like that it has more "vocal" cues in the water than my FENIX. Screens are easier to see and customize. Con is that when it's not in a function the face is black whereas the FENIX always showed the watch face. Otherwise I'm very happy with my exchange of a FENIX for a Forerunner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Out There I bought this about a month ago after I broke my Apple Watch. I am really enjoying all the extra features that come on the Garmin. One of the biggest benefits is the long battery life compared to my Apple Watch. The analytics that you can run for all of your workouts are fantastic. If you’re looking for a top of the line watch for your training, this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forerunner 970 delivers improved performance I've had the 970 for about a month and so far I'm very pleased with it. Notable improvements over my 945 are much quicker battery change time, longer lasting battery and quicker time for GPS acquisition. Also like the larger, color display. I've used it mostly for running but have also used it for hiking, golf and one bike ride just to use it since I normalIy use my Edge 830 for the bike. Haven't used it for swimming yet. Use of the watch is very similar ti the 945, minimal learning curve required to change from the 945 to the 970.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best In Class I've had a host of Garmin watches over the past 20 years: Tactic Delta, Instinct, the original wrist potato, and a multitude of others I can't remember. The Forerunner 970 is hands down the best I've owned. It is easy to use and yet altogether intuitive. It provides me with more data than I could possibly imagine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fun I've owned a few vivoactives, and they are great, but the 970 is a pretty significant step up. The training readiness and sleep tracking features are awesome, and the multi-band GPS is great at quickly and accurately monitoring both my location and pace, which were the areas I was hoping to improve most. A sneaky helpful feature for me is using the Garmin coach and the watch actually visualizing the exercises that it wants me to perform. No more going off to YouTube to figure it out. Overall this is exceeding expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neat way to track and watch Great watch and tracker. Setup got me flustered at first but made sense after just a bit of clicking and watching a YouTube video. Great medium price point versus the fenix. Looks sleek and great video screen on the dial.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t get any better Very light weights almost nothing, great amoled display. It takes some time to get use to the menu compared to my epix pro

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Upgraded from the forerunner 55 to the forerunner 970 a month ago and all I can say is wow. Imagine going from a 1984 Toyota Corolla to a 2027 Lamborghini sto. I was concerned mainly about the overall larger size of the watch but from day one it’s felt like it fits perfectly I use the flashlight daily the navigation is a life savor on the trails I’m not easy on equipment and I see this watch holding up just fine for a long time to come. Bite the bullet spend the money and never look back. Amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fenix vs 979 vs Apple Watch I was looking for the full Garmin Fenix experience without the weight penalty of a steel or titanium case, and this watch delivered exactly that. The sapphire crystal was the deciding factor for me—no more constantly replacing screen protectors that get scratched and within weeks. Coming from a Garmin 255 a few years ago and an Apple Watch 10 more recently, the difference is night and day. I no longer have to charge my watch every single day, and the running data and insights in Garmin Connect are genuinely outstanding. The depth of metrics, recovery insights, and training tools far exceed what I was getting from Strava. Pro tip: Skip the Strava subscription. Just get a Garmin. The free Connect app already gives you significantly more detailed and actionable stats than Strava provides. Yes, it’s on the expensive side, but for the build quality, battery life, and training intelligence you get, this watch is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended if you want premium performance without unnecessary bulk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Watch I love my Forerunner 970. My sons are the ones that pushed me to get one. I’m so glad they did. I’m amazed at the amount of info it tells me about my exercise and health. Love that it doesn’t need charging everyday. I definitely will not be going back to Apple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Un-F’in-real awesome experience. I’ve had it about a month, so some of the health metrics are just opening up. I am amazed by the watch, although I wish Garmin would open up some of the functionality for custom watch faces. HOWEVER, the most impressive thing is the garmin system! I find myself checking the app 15 times a day and the info and guidance it offers for health are spot on! Only thing is - sleep tracking seems off, but I’m spoiled with an Oura ring in addition to the watch. Also, the Move IQ definitely does not pick up on brisk walks, although it did properly detect a “bike” ride once. I switched from an apple watch, and while I cant give up the iphone, I am intrigued for the forst time by the android systems bc of this watch and the app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade Have used for 3 weeks, really like the longer battery life, the screen and the added features like the upgraded training plans, the step-by-step directions and the weight. Have a small wrist and the watch is not too big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features Great upgrade from my Forerunner 940. It was not keeping track of my heart rate accurately, and this one does just that! Also I like the flashing light for night running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forerunner upgrade exceeds expectations I upgrade it from a Forerunner 935, And I must say the display and functionality is out of this world… I should’ve moved earlier. I’m a long distance sea kayaker and long-course triathlete… And I think this is the perfect watch for me! The display on the watch is bright with high resolution, and I’m getting good battery life… I don’t have it on constant display, but it turns on fast enough for my needs. I really enjoy having Garmin Pay, And I utilize Amazon Music for my running. We played golf twice a week and unlike my friends Apple Watch that needs an Apple iPhone nearby… The 970 has my local course in play. I debated on upgrading to the Phoenix 8, But I’m more than happy now having spent two weeks with the 970.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this watch so much I bought this watch a few months ago now and I love it. This watch does everything. I am a beginner at running and this watch is helping me to teach and learn all the things to make me successful. Not to mention all of the thousands of other features. Best purchase ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Garmin watch yet! Loving it so far! Has everything you would ever need a watch to do. The exercise tracking is the best, like all Garmins but when you add in the EKG, LED light, and speaker so you can answer and control your phone, it is a slam dunk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sports watch Had a few weeks now. Very good watch tracks a ton of stuff is comfortable, bright, and looks great. Navigating the menu's to find the stuff take sometime and not the easiest. But all in all I would buy again.
