Accurate metrics!
I bought this watch about 2 weeks ago and so far the watch has performed quite well. The battery seems to last a bit less than the 965 but the metrics have been good

Farewell other watches!
I got tired of constantly charging my other smartwatch after 2-3 hours of exercise! Take a guess which one it was! First thing about Forerunner 970 is that even with Face on all time charge lasts 5-6 days! Second thing is very bright and easy to read Amoled screen. Like Apple watch you can program it either through app or directly through watch interface. It take a bit of time to get use to it ( I used Apple watch before), but once you learn how to program and use it it's a joy to have. It's a must for anybody serious about fitness. One small issue I couldn't address so far is subpar integration with Dexcom CGM ( I am a diabetic), hopefully Garmin and Dexcom will find some solution for that soon.

Watch of a lifetime
After 9 years my 920XT died. The Forerunner 970 is incredible. Still learning all the features.
Used it playing tennis. The continuous heart rate feature is outstanding. Great for monitoring how quickly the heart rate recovers.
The sleep coach is another strong feature.

Best switch from Apple to Garmin
I loved my Ultra 2 and I first I wasn’t too sure if I was going to like switching to Garmin, but it was the best decision! I’m in love with my Garmin 🫶🏽

More data, features, and accuracy
I bought my Garmin FR 970 in January 2026 and it is a great watch. I previously had a Garmin Venu 2, which was good, but I'm really enjoying the additional data, features, and accuracy that I get with this watch. Automatic HRV tracking data and the training readiness feature were key reasons that I upgraded. But I've also noticed that it more accurately tracks my sleep data, so I get much better insights into my overall health and training readiness, which increases my confidence in how I approach each day.

I didn’t think I needed an upgrade to my forerunner 935. Then it gave out after 5 years and I bought this watch. I’m grateful I chose this one. The flashlight is worth it over the 965. Use it all the time and easy to use for early and late runs outside.

Premier watch for runners.
I run roughly 20-25 miles a week. I’m working my way up toward a marathon so hopefully by next year I will be there. My previous watch was Garmin EPX GEN two, and before that was an apple ultra watch. Both farming watches were tough a lot accurate. This one has a beautiful screen, you can text and call from it, it has a couple more other focused matrix, such as running tolerance and rucking. It also has the EKG feature as well. The battery life is so much better than an Apple Watch. Both Garmin watches were roughly 15 days but I would charge it for about 10 to 15 minutes a day while I was showering and I never had any issues. The main reason I got this watch and upgraded was also for rucking. I was torn between a Fenix 8 vs Forerunner 970 due to durability. However, I’m very thankful I went with this watch because you can barely feel it on your wrist despite it’s size. Both the Fenix 8 and 970 have the sapphire screen, but the 970 has a lighter frame. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this watch!

A runner's best friend!
Have been using Garmin watches for 20 years now. This is the best running watch I've owned, bar none. Lightweight, durable, with a brilliant OLED face. Data sets are intuitive and customizable, GPS is quick and accurate, and data transfer is seamless. Intended for the more seasoned runner. Hits all the marks. Bravo, Garmin!

Always impressed with each new evolution.
This is my 5th Garmin Forerunner, beginning with a Forerunner 305 in 2010. I've continued to be impressed with the improvements found in each generation. This latest model has far more features than I would have ever anticipated when I started using them years ago.

Love it!
I have had my Garmin 970 for a couple weeks now and love it! I had the apple watch for many years and have been saving for this watch and it was well worth it! I'm still learning all the features but I have to say I'm using the flashlight on it daily. That is so handy to have in the middle of the night. I mainly wanted it for the fitness and sleep tracking. I can actually track my sleep now since the battery life on the Garmin watch is amazing. The apple watch needs to be charged every night so sleep tracking was difficult. Long story short, if you're on the fence, get one. You won't regret it.

I bought this about 3 weeks ago. I am very happy with it. It was an upgrade from my 265. I was weary at first with the price jump but I decided to bite the bullet. It has more features and is worth the jump if you are serious about distance running for the long term.

Great Watch!
I love this watch for it's ease of use. The downside (if you can call it that) is that it gives you the feeling of being in an emotionally abusive relationship. You'll have the best run of your life and the watch will say that you need more sleep, you're under-performing and you likely have a crooked smile.
Overall, 10/10. I love the watch. Easy to use and integrates well with my Apple phone.

just simple enough to learn how to use it. love that its display is nice and bright. much more sleek and less bulky on my wrist compared to my fenix 7. overall love it and would totally recommend to anyone triathalon training or just wanting a sleek everyday sports watch. i had my fenix for just over 4 years and i will continue to use it for bigger adventures but i love having this one as my everyday wear. love garmin!

Generational Leap Forward
I brought my Forerunner 970 in Taiwan while on a work trip, upgrading from my 945. It feels like I just gone through a leap in time, the new OLED display is crisp and bright, had to turn down the brightness for my daily usage. Discovering the included speaker was another fun surprise.
PROs:
Battery life, Flashlight, and OLED display, everything else are just icing on the cake.

Only able to use purchased country's Transportation Card.

As someone who is an everything apple guy. I’m telling you it’s ok ti ditch your Apple Watch lol. The 970 looks good but most importantly it’s accurate and almost never needs a charge. Anybody who’s serious about their stats needs this watch. You’ll never have to pull out your phone.

Best Version of the Forerunner yet!
This is the best version of the Forerunner yet. The band is a significant upgrade in that it's a bit stiffer than in the past and stays in place better. Also love the sapphire screen and titanium bezzle, it keeps the watch from getting dinged and scrated up when you are as active as most endurane athletes are. The buttons are also an upgrade as they feel more crip and you get great feedback when you press them. Well done Garmin!

Great stats!
Love my Forerunner 970! Got it for Christmas and was able to train the last few weeks with it before my first marathon, loved having to run the marathon and all the stats pre and post marathon to track my recovery! Excited to keep training and get more stats!
