Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would buy it if GE makes it! We bought a new GE Dryer, specifically because we wanted a side vent. But this kit has been unavailable for a year ! In our cramped space, the dryer is vented in the back and we've had to put another hole in the wall, and use extra ducting. Not good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from vent kit We have been without a washer since Jan 17 trying to get the needed vent kit GFA28DSVN. Finally we thought we were getting it and it comes up out of stock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expensive. GE engineered it so I'll use it but I h In no particular order here are frustrations with this kit: - Took MONTHS to receive - Box only consists of an angle bracket with 3m vrb double sided sticky tape on it, a 90 degree pipe, and 3 straight lengths. Couldn't you at least have thrown in some alcohol wipes and some duct tape? - The dryer model I purchased advertised venting could be through the left, right, back, or bottom using this kit (which it referenced a model number for). If you pop the left cover open you will be greeted with wires that make it physically impossible to put the left pipe in. (Bottom/Right side installs should be fine). The kit should come with a zip tie base and zip tie to allow these wires to be moved OR a new wiring harness OR the unit should just not advertise left venting installation is possible. - The instruction manual that comes with the kit doesn't make mention to clean the machine surface before applying the 3m vrb double-sided adhesive bracket leading to a high change the bracket will detach. - The pipe is kept pressed against the blower housing with a replacement bracket that is only double-sided 3m vrb sticky taped down to the bottom of the machine. The original equipment has a bracket that is screwed to the back of the machine. I'll trust GE's engineering team on this one but it sure seems like a safety concern. If the machine moves in an installation where external venting pipes are fixed or if someone bumps the vent pipes I could see this detaching and allowing hot exhaust gas to blow into the machine. I would have preferred to see a sheet metal bracket that screwed into the back of the machine like the original vent pipe does.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not For Left Side Venting Attempting to install this kit now for a left side vent. What they don’t tell you is that the electrical harness is run and tie wrapped in the path of the left vent making it impossible to install without rerouting the wires. Even if you want to rest a hot exhaust pipe on the harness, which would be a bad idea, the pipe will sit at an angle and cannot be installed. GE has a video showing easy installation and even shows the duct being installed on the left side. They had to have encountered the wiring harness and moved it in order to slide the duct in straight, but the video and instructions make no mention of this. Aside from this, the small bracket with an adhesive strip does not stay in place. The force of securing the screw into the bracket will dislodge it. I had to use other material to secure it. You should also thread the screw into the bracket first to make it easier. It appears to be a self tapping machine screw, so it goes in very hard at first, making the chances of the bracket moving even higher. I needed this kit to fit my space, but not happy with the engineering and lack of disclosure in the instructions.
