Quiet
Easy install. Quiet. The inverter concept is brilliant. We have single wall construction in Hawaii and earlier air conditioners would start and stop abruptly causing a huge shake of the walls. This has a smooth start and stop. Great purchase.

Efficient & powerful

Lifesaver!!!

This has helped save my energy bill and me by keeping my bedroom nice and cool and a relaxing escape from the outside world. It took two people to install but was easy to install and setup. I love the fact that I incorporates with the rest of the Google home, making it easy to use without even having to get out of bed

Great for Florida!

My favorite part are the two features that make it great for sleeping: “quiet” mode, and that the digital display dims after a few moments. It works quickly and efficiently, and the WiFi capability allows for customizable temperature control. We love it and are going to get a ton of use out it it!

He works from home in the shed and the Florida heat can be brutal in the summer. This AC handily fits right in the window and will allow him to work in comfort!

Quality with technology and value
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so excited about this unit! I have a screened-in patio that this will be perfect for this summer! Being able to control it using WiFi, and adjust the temperature and how high you want it to run is wonderful. And the fact that it’s quiet can’t be beat when you have little ones, or need to sleep. It’s a GE Profile, so the quality is outstanding (my kitchen appliances are GE Profile). And it’s pretty much plug in and go! I’ve injured my back, but this’ll be installed just as soon as I can lift it!

Worth it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is amazing. So easy to set up, the side pieces are easy to fan out and install. It weighs 51lbs but packs a lot for the small weight. All the controls are easy to understand and use, and is quiet enough for day and night use.

Quiet but vibrates loudly.
Easy install but when the compressor is in slow mode it vibrates like a mack truck is parked outside your window. Fan is quiet but unit is shacking and pulsing loudly.

Works Well, But Need To Watch
Purchased two of these units. One for my kitchen, and one for my bedroom. While the kitchen unit has been working smoothly, on occasion, the one in the bedroom starts to vibrate significantly, so I shut it off, restart it and that seems to correct it, hence the four star rating.
Will continue to monitor this over the cooling season and hope there is no failure, etc.

Good service when I called with shipping questions
This unit cools well. Something different is I can't hear the compressor run at all, must be the inverter technology. The fan noise, however, is my only complaint. Worse at medium speed, a medium pitched electronic hum is louder than the air rushing sound. Not what expected. (Except if using the quiet button, but then the air speed is so low I can't imagine it cools efficiently). This one is at the top of a stairway, I couldn't stand the noise if it was in the bedroom.
I calculated the efficiency, my way, by dividing BTUs by watts. This GE 8000 is about 10% more efficient than an old Westinghouse we used for umpteen years.

Quiet, Powerful, and Easy to Use AC Unit

It has great cooling power and cools my room quickly while staying much quieter than other AC units. I also like that it comes with a remote and smart features, which make adjusting settings super convenient. The design looks sleek and modern and doesn’t feel too bulky in the window. Overall, it feels powerful, efficient, and user-friendly.

Not Ultra Quiet. Not Even Sorta Quiet!
Box boldly proclaims Ultra Quiet. Reality is different. The fan is on the quiet side, but the compressor is just as noisy as any other compressor I've ever had. Since it's the compressor that makes most of the noise, I consider this deceptive advertising. Not going to return the unit, because of the time invested in installing it. Just not going to buy any more GE air conditioners.

Not worth the price.
It’s very loud at times. It begins to vibrate the entire window. I have to turn it off for a while. When turned back on it will typically not make the noise for some time. But it always returns.

Great for 1 day
It worked great for 1 day. Now it does not shut off until the room is freezing regardless of the temperature setting on the unit. Then it does not turn back on by itself when the room warms up.
Also, it started making a very load noise when something in it turns on. It sounds like something is out of balance and it vibrates the entire wall! I will be calling GE to fix or replace.

Low quality IMO.
NOT very quiet. When the compressor kicks in, you hear it on the other side of our large house, rattles the AC unit, the window, the wall, and the house.

Puts the word "rattler" in window rattler.
Horrible rattling unit. Repair services are even worse. Non-repairable item. I have to buy another unit just to get reimbursed for the first one. That's a lot of extra work for me for a bad product. Will never by GE again.

Helicopter noises after about two days
This window mounted inverter AC unit seemed like a good idea. Paid extra for it compared to regular models. We really thought it was great for a couple days. Loved the quiet mode, but then it started making helicopter noises even in Quiet mode. Something was happening To the motor or compressor that is not supposed to happen. It got very loud.

Not great QC or handling on these units
I ordered 2 of these and they both came with issues... the first had condenser fins pushed in so we sent it back without even using. The 2nd one we used and after an hour of use started making a loud noise...opened up the filter area and found the interior fins smushed in on that one too.

Great if you like hearing helicopters!
I have other GE window units that work great, but decided to try this inverter one to save on my electric bill. What a mistake! This thing sounds like a helicopter when it runs and even shakes the wall. When the compressor isn’t running, it’s quiet and smooth. But as soon as the compressor turns on, it sounds like you’re in war being attacked by a helicopter!! It produces super cold air, but the harmonics it produces are unacceptable! I would not buy again.
