Works great
I’ve had mine for about 3 months. I have had to replace the filter and do routine sanitation. My machine has worked great. I use the “Smart HQ “ to set a timer to turn off and on the machine. I have seen a lot of bad reviews but if you follow the cleaning and maintenance instructions the directions, it works great.

Amazing!
Overall the nugget ice maker is amazing! Only downside I would say is that when the tray is full. Eventually the ice would kind of melt but if the tray had better insulation of some sort to keep the ice nice and cold while it’s full that would be more amazing. But overall it’s amazing and my whole family loves it. Once it starts making the ice it makes it fast!

Easy to use and love opal ice
I love this Ice machine, continually makes ice when needed and stops when full and best features is the side tank and filter. My ice tastes fresh. Opal ice is the best ice for crunching on especially when it tastes this good!

Love love love
This is my second machine the first one outlived its time and so finally had to ket it go. Love the nuggets easy to crunch on so good. Machine knocks out the ice super fast bin holds alot.

Best Upgrade!
Upgrading to the 2.0 ice machine is the best investment of 2026! I love the features and the app that lets me know when it is time to sanitize as well as descale my ice machine! And of course, I love the ice nuggets! Definitely recommend!

The construction is excellent and the ice it produces is exactly what i wanted. I recommend the side tank as you will have to add water frequently if you do not have a side tank.

Fast and quiet
So far so good. It makes ice QUICKLY. It entertains our cats for hours. It is heavy so moving it about to clean etc is challenging.... I will probably invest in a cute bucket for it. The user manual is very easy to understand. Clean all components before using. It is quiet compared to other ice makers I have seen.

Great Nugget Ice with Easy Cleaning Process
The ice capacity from the Opal is incredible. I can use this machine for parties or family dinners and not run out of ice. The descaling process is easy - just one push of a button to clean the unit. It does take ~50min. But it is easy enough to drain, add the cleaning solution, push the clean button and let it run. Then a quick rinse with clean water and you are good to go. The water filter is easy to install and the design looks great on my countertop.

Good icemaker and should last for years.
I love the size of the side tank and is easy to refill. I wish the ice bin didn' t drip when pulled out (hence the need for the drip-tray) as my previous icemaker that was fully enclosed so no dripping.
Looks nice on the counter with stainless steel look and a light to see inside ice bin.

Love the updated version!
This is the third opal nugget machine that I have owned. The other two were the basic model with side tank. I love the New model with the sanitizer and the better filter. I live in Florida and the water here is so bad! So having that sanitizer that I can run at least once a week is great on top of the normal cleaning function.

Great features!
I love everything about this machine. It works great, the ice is chewable and works well with any beverage. It lets me know when I need to change the filter, descale or anything else. I also love the color and magnetic scoop.

Love the ice! Hate the cleaning
Love the ice—been steady making ice for 5 months now. It’s quality chick-filet style ice. Only downside is it needs to be cleaned weekly and descaled once a month if you want to properly maintain it. This involves running a solution through it once and then running a rinse cycle 3 more times. So consider that in your purchase.

Great crushed icemaker!
Great ice maker that doesn't take up much space. Easy to install and operate. The crushed ice is perfect! My only issue is with the instructions. After initially cleaning and rinsing, it says to fill internal reservoir first, then the side tank. When I did this properly, the side tank pushed water all over the counter and cabinets as the internal tank partially fills the bottom of the side tank receptacle. It should say to fill the side tank first, then place onto the unit, THEN fill the internal reservoir. We still love it!

Great unit
[Employee of ge_appliances] The ice maker works wonderful. Wish we bought earlier as we use it all the time. The extra side tank help from having to refill the water level more frequently. The unit was a little bigger than expected but well within the space it was planned for.
