I was able to install it in a 24" single hung window which gave me a 20" 15/16 opening and the casing was 22" opening It fit FINE I wasn't able to use the insulation pillow holder but was able to trim to fit and they were not needed It is snug as a bug

8,000 BTU - Great Window Unit
INSTALL - Fairly straight forward & only req'd a few tools plus a drill for 1/8" pilot holes for the 1/2" metal screws to secure in place. Took approx 30 mins from out-of-the-box & in-the-window operation. Took another 30 - 45 mins to install gaskets / tape for sealing purposes + setting up the SMART App & Alexa. TEMP - First day of use in FLORIDA Spring (5/31/20) - 96F & sunny! Put it on 62F to get a 300' SF room cooled down. Took about 2 hours but it worked great & blows very cold air! Thermometer placed at vents registered 61F & you could feel the cool air 10' - 15' away from the unit. REMOTE - this little unit also has a remote to help you control the unit's temp, mode, fan speed, etc. so you don't have to get-up ... of course, if you have a smart phone, read on ... SMART APP - This took several tries & 2 devices. USE ONLY 2.4ghz WiFi signal when connecting to your home network & the AC network OR you will NOT successfully configure the unit. Even after doing this several times, I ended up switching devices from my iPhone 8+ to my iPad. I kept getting "Internal Error" when attempting to move on from Step 3 after successfully connecting to the AC Network. I downloaded the same app on the iPad, logged-in, followed the same set-up as before - Viola ... SUCCESS on the 1st try!! Once connected, you can activate Alexa & to use voice commands from within the house or from your iPhone Alexa app for "scenes" if your home is SMART configured. You can also use the MIDEA AIR AP. This has some nice user interface from background color to let you know which mode your AC unit is running as well as the ability to control / set temp, mode, fan speed, etc. There's also another feature that allows you to set up daily / weekly routines for all the various settings too; PROS: Cold Air! Easy DIY install for most folks!! SIMPLE buttons!!! Remote & SMART iPhone App capable!! CONS: Needs bigger "side-screens" for larger (> 36" wide) window openings.

Wow factor

Blows so cold cools my bedroom and bathroom with ease, multiply wow features, works on wifi also this is an ac for all. Easy to install also.

Great air condition unit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great air conditioner with cool features such as WiFi and can be controlled with Alexa and google home. My husband installed it in our guest room which we just recently added in our house. The room cools easily within minutes and I like the fact that it also dehumidifies and ventilate because I have a very sensitive son who easily gets irritated during summer times due to his allergies. Also, it's an energy saver so it doesn't really cost us much with our electric bill even if it's in use it's every night. Another cool features that I really love is how easy it is control with the app and voice control. A/c Unit and app installation is very easy because it's compatible with our Alexa and google home. the remote control is also a great addition because we can control it without the hassle of getting up to adjust the and control the temperature or turning it off. We've been using it for two weeks now and we love it.

Great features!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Midea 8,000 BTU SmartCool Air Conditioner is a great addition to my basement. Getting it out the box and setting it up was fast and simple. I was excited to use the WiFi and voice control feature. I was able to set it up with my Alexa and turn the AC on when I am upstairs. It cools the whole basement in under an hour. The air can me directed in 4 different ways and the fan is a great bonus. The remote is a great bonus and the Energy Star is something I look for in all my appliances. I'm very happy with this AC.

Very powerful!

I put it in my bedroom and it not only cooled my room but the surrounding rooms as well when I left the door open. I love that it's easily controlled without Google Home. It's almost to simple to use. I love this unit and highly recommend it. Thank you for making an amazing product!

Fantastic Product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Air conditioner starts cooling whatever room you have it in very rapidly after turning it on. It's very quiet while running. It's very energy efficent. Easy to set up. Has a handheld remote and a cell phone app that makes operating the air conditioner even easier than a manual one. Has extra features that many other brand of air conditioners don't, like 3 speed fan, eco mode and an easy to service filter.

Great feature and cool well!

Quality Air Conditioning
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With summer heat and humidity here ,this Midea 8,000 BTU Smart Cool Window Air Conditioner with Wi-Fi and Voice Control was a welcome addition to my home .This compact room A/C(with easy Installation kit included )was easy for my husband to install and fit perfectly in my 36 in wide bedroom window. It appears well made of quality materials and cooled my (little less than suggested 350 sq. ft.) bedroom very quickly .This has a lot of the bells and whistles of more expensive brand names like: 3-in-1 Comfort: Cools, Dehumidifies, and Ventilates , Smart Phone Control from anywhere using their app or Alexa , 2 Fan Speeds , 2 Cooling modes and even Energy Saver . Also a washable filter. I would defiantly recommend this a/c units to all my friends and family.

Controls don't function properly
The controls on my 8,000 btu window unit do not function properly, and the app is now hidden by a "message" that I can't X out of because the acknowledgement button is hidden below the screen on my iphone. (I've reloaded the app several times with no luck.) Only some of the manual controls on the unit itself work, and the clicker no longer functions (I replaced the CR 2025 battery). No matter how efficient an AC unit is, it is not much use if you can't control it. These problems began shortly after I purchased the unit, and have only gotten worse. Should have returned it within the warrantee. I should mention that I have not yet gotten a response from Midea so maybe there's an easy fix, but this has been a time suck.

At least it cools the room.
I got this a.c from a local retailer. The thing I don't get is it doesn't drip like my old LG window a.c. It looks like the drain hole is on the opposite side where the condensation is but on the bottom so it doesn't drip. Another thing to mention is looking at the back there is a screw going through the back fins to hold the housing in place instead of going into the frame. Kinda like the a.c was half fast put together. At least it keeps my room cool though. Also I have it set so it turns on and off at a specific time and day and set the temperature. I can control it from my phone no matter where I'm at. Thats a plus. Yes I do recommend but No because of what I mentioned.

Indicator Already Wore Off
Only had this for 4 days, and when I went to touch the up indicator symbol, it smudded and wipe off . I think they are just decals. So be safe not to use a wet hand, when touching. as they smear off .

Nice unit!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a very nice unit and i'll explain my overall rating however first things first. I love the ability for Wi-Fi and voice control, both of which worked flawlessly for me. It's not necessary however it was a very nice feature. It kept my room cool as well and seemed to do pretty well when adjusting the temperature, really helps in the hot weather. With that said, this was replacing another unit, another very plain jane unit with no Wi-Fi or voice control, and i'm not sure if it gets the room cool as fast as the old unit. It does work though and keeps it cool when it gets there, I just don't think it pushes the air out as much and that's why my 3 out of 5 stars. If I had nothing to compare it to, i might give it 4 or 5 stars. I do think you will be happy with this unit however if you are replacing something just be prepared to turn it on a little earlier (before bed for example) to give it a head start.

Difficult to install and...
The blue display light is so bright it has disrupted my circadian rhythms. It was so hard to install and is still not in there correctly. The window screen doesn't fit as stated in the sales description. Lastly, there were no WiFi instructions in the manual.

I would not be asking for help, poor purchase!
Purchased to replacement my 5K unit for better coverage. New unit works and functions during testing by touch buttons or remote, but can't get the WIFI app to work with it. No instructions with the unit to connect to WIFI, only thing found is a YouTube video that doesn't work. The only reason I give two stars: The unit turns on and works with the touch buttons and the remote, can't connect to my phone or network.

Poor Quality and Customer Support
This company does not back their product. Had unit for 3 days, and the symbols on the control panel rubbed off. Called customer support did exactly what they told me to doe. They played the waiting game. When I contacted customer support , they did absolutely nothing to help me, other than a can speech. Support representives where very unprofessional, they told be to take the product back where I purchase, get a refund and then buy the product again. Now why would I buy the same product again, when this unit has a design problem . I read over 100 reviews about my same problem, and they were told to do the same.

Bought two weeks ago and the control labels are wearing off.
We had to put scotch tape over the labels so that the unit could still be used without using the remote. Should be recalled.
