Best Sound Quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use the soundbar to watch movies and play games, while watching movie in my samsung 75" TV with the soundbar it feels as if I am watching in a movie theater. Sound is very clear, it has more bass which feels as if you are there on the screen feeling all the experience hands on. Surround sound is the best.

Superb Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been used to using a 5.1 home theatre systems for upwards of 10 years. I have tired a handful of sound bar devices which were either HDMI and/or Optical cable. In each I noticed a lag, and more importantly they tried to synthesize sound, but it almost always felt like a 2.1 home theatre system at best and a surround sound system at worst.
Once I saw the Samsung HW-Q990D 11.1.4ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS:X I thought to give it a try, only because of the 2 additional rear speakers, and the way other speakers were designed to be able to send sounds in different directions, like left and right and also top. This could allow for me to be able to actually listen to the Atmos quality sound, something that was missing with the 5.1 home theatre system and also with the several sound bars that I have tried and failed. The rear speakers seem to be very good too, as it seems to have sound generation in 3 different axis ( yes all 3 axis, as opposed to different angles) , that make this a perfect fit for a home theatre.
The device comes equipped with everything needed, including 3 HDMI connectors, one of which is HDMI E-ARC, a TOSLInk/ Optical connection. While I believe it can be mounted, I chose to not mound the main device. The rear speaker

Incredible sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is not my first soundbar, although my first in this price range. My previous soundbar, while sufficient for my old setup, just couldn't quite cut it with the size of my new great room ( > 400 sqft, with tall ceilings).
Setup was simple. Other than HDMI (or other connector) to the central speaker, all other components connect wirelessly and just needed power. I would recommend if you have the rear speakers on stands, that you get stands with both support in the rear and underneath.
Right away I could tell the difference in sound quality. While my old system had speakers which could be adjusted to provide a somewhat balanced sound, this provided a substantially fuller sound right out of the box.
I will say that the subwoofer is fairly large, and I was worried once I realized I hadn't planned a place to put it in advance. Ultimately I found a place in my setup that I'm happy with.
I'll also say while my television is not a Samsung TV, I had no trouble controlling the setup over CEC using either the television remote or an external streaming box. I really appreciated that this worked, since my previous two setups have had issues once I went cross-vendor.
I'm very happy with these speakers. I had somewhat given up on the idea of having a truly robust sound setup for this room, but this gives me everything I could want.

Superb crisp and rich sound bar system.

Easy to install, and to set up/pair, which allow me enough time to customize its settings to get the best sound and my system. Keeps the Crown for Best Atmos Soundbar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Q990D is still the best soundboard solution out there, not only does it provide you with the best possible immersive experience with Atmos/DTS:X capabilities, but it looks great doing so. The design is unchanged from previous generation, but that's not a bad thing at all, it's a great looking soundboard and ascetically pleasing. Blends in very well with most if not all decors. It slots in under our 85 QLED utilizing the Q-Symphony mode. It engulfs the room with sound from all directions. Top middle sides and rear, it really draws you into the experience of being there when watching any content. Especially more so when Atmos enabled soundtrack is played back during a movie. There is not bad seat in the house, you can almost see the sounds you hear, which is a strange thing to explain, its just so good that you are lost in the movie. The rear speakers are loud, and really add that extra layer od depth. If paired with a Samsung TV you can also connect the soundbar wire free, no need for HDMI connection, you can utilize the WiFi connection to pair the TV very easily. I opted to use the e-Arc port but both sounded about the same, I was not able to tell the difference. One of the best features is the SmartThings integration, which allows full control and adjustments to the speakers and EQs. Also enable Smart Voice assurance and SmartThings hub. The sound modes pair very nicely with the set, the AVA really does make a difference with voices and dialog enhancement, you never miss a dialog. SpaceFit Pro really just dials in everything for you and ensures that you get the best sound possible. Overall you cannot go wrong with the Samsung Q990D as the king of Atmos Soundbars.

Truly Atmospheric Surround Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm always amazed at Samsung's ability to pack such a theater like experience in a single box. The HW-Q990D is no exception. I unboxed this soundbar and connected it to my Samsung QD-OLED TV expecting a traditional soundbar experience. I was not prepared for just how well Samsung managed to execute Dolby Atmos with this soundbar. The rear satellites feature a front firing, side firing and up firing speaker, which is enveloping as it is, but the speaker array on the soundbar itself makes it feel like there are sounds coming from virtually every angle of my room. My Samsung TV is actually Q-Symphony equipped as well, so it allows me to use the TV speakers with the soundbar for additional front channels. The subwoofer is loud, punchy, and deep. You can tell by the weight and heft of it that it will deliver that punch, and it does. This is hands down the best sounding soundbar I have ever used, and the setup and convenience make it the best audio system I've ever owned overall.

Absolutely Amazing

I was previously looking into the Q990C and the reviews were extremely positive. One of the major factors that sold me on the Q990D is the 4k 120 passthrough. I'm a gamer that values this feature tremendously. Even though I know I could connect directly to my TV, to have the flexibility and additional ports that supports this is a plus. Along with the sound upgrade, the choice was clear. The rear speakers are simply amazing. All the content I watch, just becomes even more elevated and extremely captivating. The Q990D packs a serious punch and I am here for it!!! It's a beast of a Soundbar!

Immersive, powerful, deep sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first true foray into proper surround sound in a living room, and I'm extremely impressed.
First thing's first, to some, the inclusion of HDMI2.1 on the 990D (the 990C didn't have HMDI2. 1) may be a minor upgrade, but as someone excited to use this for gaming with console and PC at 120hz, 4k, and with the ability to push Dolby Atmos or DTX sound all at the same time, this was the perfect change.
Onto the day-to-day of using it. I've done everything from gaming, to watching movies with Dolby Atmos sound, and even listened to music and podcasts on it. There's a ton of power in this system, I'd be surprised to find any normal sized house where this thing at anywhere near it's max volume wouldn't be more than enough to have deep rumbling bass and room-filling sound.
The rear speakers have been a treat as well. They truly round out the experience as far as providing further directionality of where sounds are coming from. I've watched TV shows at 2am where there was a knock on the door, and honestly it jump scared me from how it genuinely sounded like someone was knocking at my door due to the surround sound.
Outside of all this, the SmartThings app makes it easy for me to adjust settings on the fly whether I want to use it late at night and only have the rear speakers on, or if I want to do something like use the Voice Boost feature to make spoken audio sound even clearer.
All in all, I'm extremely impressed with this soundbar system.

The New Home Theater Flagship

The Q990D looks and feels great with high build quality and materials.
It fits perfectly with any 55" or larger 4K TV.
The addition of 4K120 passthrough is great if you have a PS5 or XBSX
The setup is instant and foolproof.
I have no eArc or startup issues like I've had with other soundbars.
The dialogue enhahcnement of the Active Voice Amplifier is really helpful.
And at 20% this thing rattles my room and I have to hope the neighbors aren't home. I hope you have a soundproof room to really test the limits.
Also works great with Spotify and Google Home.
The music playback has been improved with the party mode.
I hope they add DTS: X Pro and Atmos upscaling in a firmware update but otherwise this is the peak of home theater sound.
And if you have 4K Bluray discs, the Dolby Atmos upfiring and surround sound audio quality is hard to believe. The satellite speaker are powerful and really add to the sense of immersion.
I am still waiting for my Samsung OLED to test the Q-Symphony and wireless Atmos which would make this soundbar even better!

The best of the best!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always considered myself to be an audiophile. I have an amazing setup for my vinyl records, but I have never been able to get sound that I was happy with from my TV. That changed when I got the Q990D! My previous sound bar was the Q990A and that was a good bar, but it had its annoyances. I am happy to say all of those have been fixed and I am extremely satisfied with the Q990D.
The build quality is exceptional. It has a metal mesh screen around the top and sides to cover the speakers with a small display on the front that is hidden and only shows up when you change the volume or input or sound mode.
Hooking it up is very easy. I used 1 HDMI cable from my TV’s eARC out to the sound bar. The sound bar also has 2 other HDMI ports with 4k passthrough so you can use those to hook up gaming machines or blu-ray players and things like that. To set up the subwoofer and rear speakers, all I had to do was plug them in and they automatically connected.
I fired up movies that I knew had good Atmos action scenes in them and I was blown away. It had a rich and full sound. The bass, mids, and highs were all represented perfectly and clearly. The sound filled the room and you felt like you were in the middle of the action!
The companion app allowed me to tweak things further with adjustments for each of the channels as well as a full 7 band EQ. Within minutes, I had my sound perfectly dialed in!
Next, I tried a little music. Normally I would never listen to music through my sound bar because it sounds horrible. I loaded up some Hi-Res music files and I was shocked because they sounded really good. Not as good as my dedicated music stereo system, but I was very surprised that the music was very listenable. I also played spatial audio tracks through it and they also sounded amazing and were very immersive. I wish in the app you could have a few different custom EQ’s saved so I could have one set up for music and one for TV and movies. Its a pain having to go in and change EQ settings when I switch from TV to music. Other than that, I am very satisfied with the sound It seems that Samsung has really been listening to its customers through the evolution of the QD sound bar line and have made lots of positive changes. It has now morphed into what I think is probably one of the best sound bars money can buy. If you are looking for the best of the best, this is it

Exceptional sound
Just received and setup this soundbar plus subwoofer and surround speakers. Setup was seamless and sound is spectacular! This replaces an earlier version of a similar Samsung soundbar. Playing movie soundtracks with a lot of diverse sounds is very much like being in a theater with incredible sound. Very happy with this purchase!

The Best Sound Bar That Exists Today
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Two of my TVs had an older, Vizio 5.1 soundbar setup, and while it sounded good, I was excited to upgrade to Atmos on one of them. The first thing I noticed straight out of the box was the sheer size and weight of it. Traditionally, soundbars use tiny, underpowered drivers and make compromises to fit into a small form factor. That clearly was not the case here. The soundbar itself probably weighed twice as much as my old Vizio bar, and the surround speakers were at least double the size.
The soundbar is impressive in its performance. SpaceFit Sound Pro is so much better than doing a manual calibration, and the rear speakers have up-firing drivers to really drive home that Atmos sound quality. Clearly, the gap has been closed significantly between soundbars and a true home theater setup, and for most people it will be the best option. Yes, it's expensive, but it is still much cheaper than a traditional Atmos setup, not to mention you would need to drill a bunch of holes in your ceiling and run wires for that.
The only real complaint I have is that the amp for the rear speakers is in the speaker itself, which means the speakers need plugged into power to work. I have speaker wires run for surround sound setups already, but they require speaker wire, not power wires. Oddly enough, the cheaper Samsung soundbars actually use a system with an external amp that would work much better with my setup (and I'm guessing others' as well), but I'll figure out a way to make it work with wire molding or something.
Still, it's an incredible soundbar. You literally cannot buy a better one on the market today than the Samsung 990D. If you value sound quality but do not want to spend thousands, run wires, and install speakers in your ceiling, this is what you want to buy.

Unbelievably Immersive Audio

Pros:
Volume output of soundbar and subwoofer. I had this at level 21 and it was plenty loud.
No speaker wiring. Only power wiring to speakers and subwoofer along with HDMI to soundbar.
Immersive Sound.
Easy setup with WiFi.
Space Fit Sound Pro which basically calibrates the speakers with a mic like a receiver would, so you know you're getting the most out of your speakers.
7-Band Equalizer when not in Q-Symphony mode.
SmartThings App to adjust settings without the soundbar remote and small display on soundbar.
HDMI 2.1 passthrough for the gamers out there who want to get the high bandwith, resolution, and refresh rates out of their TVs.
Cons:
I could tell where the subwoofer was located in the room. Could also just be difference between the locations and floor types.
Q-Symphony greys out the Equalizer and won't allow adjustments besides tone adjustments to Bass and Treble.
Overall:
For the price point, this is a great alternative to get an immersive sound without paying a premium for a true Dolby Atmos setup and hassle of paying a professional to wire the speakers. Sometimes with my true setup, I have a hard time hearing the dialogue. That's probably due to the center channel not being at the right elevation due to the entertainment center I have downstairs. However, with this soundbar that would definitely not be an issue especially with the Adaptive Sound and Active Voice Analyzer.

It has many channels and it is powerful, this means it can make any sound super loud and clear. It also has Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which make the sound come from all directions. It is like being in the movie theater or actually being right there in the scene. The sound bar is also smart and easy to use and set up. It connects to your devices and your Samsung TV. Set-up was straightforward, and the ability to connect wirelessly to my existing Samsung television was beyond convenient. This sound system is sleek, compact, and all-around adaptive to your environment. Featuring a main subwoofer, a front-facing unit with 11-speakers, and 4 up/side-firing speakers-- this soundbar makes for a completely incredible and immersive sound experience. With Samsungs SpaceFit Sound Pro, it's simple to calibrate and optimize sound based on the acoustics of your environment/space. Sound is incredibly crisp and clear, and bass is sharp and unclouded, even with great volume. As a family who utilizes the television for movies, music and gaming, the ability to utilize various pre-sets for optimal sound is a huge plus. We utilize Party Mode when entertaining guests and playing music. We utilize Private mode for late-night television when our kids are sleeping. The HDMI 2.1 has made it possible for my husband to utilize 4k 120HZ when playing his favorite games. We absolutely love the level of elevation provided by the Samsung Q990D across the board. This Sound bar is AMAZING
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My experience with this surround setup has been incredible. The initial unboxing was easy. Not to bad to unpack while still have adequate packing to protect it while shipping.
Setup was easy. The wireless connectivity of everything has come a long way. After simply plugging everything in and allowing it to pair setup was done super simple. I would also like to mention the this soundbar now supports hdmi passthrough at 120hz and 4k. It's a nice feature to have if your short on hdmi ports, though I would still recommend hooking the soundbar to your tv via your Earc port if your tv has it. My tv instantly recognized the system and adjusted the sound settings on its own. I also would definitely recommend mounting the surround speakers to the wall vs a stand or just on a side table, in my opinion having them higher up really helped the overall sound.
So far I have watched a few movies, listened to music and played a few video games and it has excelled at everything so far. The surround speakers really do there job well for the full experience when your really getting into a movie. They are also surprisingly accurate while playing online games. I had a heads up on which direction my opponent was coming from well before I could see them. Plenty of bass for music if your into that sort of thing. If your worried about how loud the setup can get don't, I'm pretty sure you could blow out an eardrum before you max out the volume.
Overall I would most definitely recommend at least trying this system out if you are in the market for a surround system

The Atmosphere of a Home Symphony
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung HW-Q990D is something so robust and enveloping, it's difficult to put into words. The breathtaking execution of Dolby Atmos in a convenient and compact form factor is almost unbelievable.
Setup was an absolute breeze. Using HDMI eARC on my Samsung S95C QD-OLED TV, the soundbar automatically connected on powerup and configured the Q-Symphony setting. This allows my TV speakers to be used as additional directional sound, creating an even deeper sound spectrum.
There were two obvious upgrades I noticed this year from last year's Q990C. First, it's has HDMI 2.1 passthrough, allowing for 4K 120Hz, which is a must have for next-gen consoles. Second, they changed the color, which is a major aesthetic upgrade in my opinion. You can see the difference in my surround speaker images. The speaker on the left is the Q990C, which is a greyish color, while the Q990D on the right is solid black. Trust me when I say it is a huge improvement in how good the soundbar looks under your TV.
The remote is the same slim formfactor as last year's model, with the convenient "CH LEVEL" button that lets you navigate directly to speaker level adjustments, and the "TONE CONTROL" button that takes you right to the bass and treble adjustments. If you haven't purchased a Samsung soundbar in a few years, you'll find these buttons a convenient addition to the remote.
The sound on this unit is loud, and I mean loud, and the base is comparable to an actual movie theater. Where the HW-Q990D really shines is its implementation of Dolby Atmos. When you watch content that has full Dolby Atmos support, the depth and accuracy of the directional sound will leave you speechless. If you are using a Q-Symphony enabled Samsung TV, it literally sounds like voices are coming directly out of the characters' mouths on the screen.
If you are looking for a full-scale soundscape in video games, movies, and sports, the HW-Q990D will give you that and so much more in a convenient and compact formfactor. I promise this soundbar will make your friends and family jealous of your home setup.
