It works... but it takes elbow grease.
Was excited to replace an old vent hood that didn't match our new Samsung oven and other appliances... with that said, excitement turned into bewilderment when the hood came without the option for rear venting, only top venting. Most hoods come with all the parts to do either.
What i found is that it DID have the sealed opening for this, but no damper connector for it. After knocking out the backer metal i was able to expose the rear section. This took drilling out riveted the sheet metal covers for rear venting. I had to reuse the old Vent Damper connector to make it work unfortunately, but it did the trick.
It also doesn't come branded like the picture shows. When you have all samsung stuff, it's nice to show it off. This hood looks just like others on the market and it would be nice to have it. Fixed that too! With some stainless steel vinyl and my wife's cricut maker, we are branded!
One corner of the hood is shabby like it was thrown together in the factory where they missed lining up the seams. I had already put too much time into this to return it and will need to live with that quality.
The most important thing is this hood is only for TOP VENTING out of the box. Don't waste your time trying it rear vented. I got lucky.

Not happy!
I bought this to match my other appliances. I love everything about it except the recirculating fan does not come with a filter so it does not live up to its advertising! After contacting Samsung several times in several ways, never got any acceptable help. Just put on hold or hung up on. They want to do everything automated. Not happy to have a recirculating fan that doesn't filter!
