Your Absolute Pick for Home Theater Sound
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung has been the leader in the Home Theater Soundbar market and this newest addition in 2026 will not disappoint you. I believe this newest soundbar is a well built sound system with a long soundbar that will sit nicely below your TV and a compact but powerful subwoofer that does all the thumps and well-balanced bass. The two back surround sound speakers are wireless and can also be placed in the front, however I decided to keep them as my back speakers. I placed them right behind our couch.
I found the setup process to be extremely user friendly: just make sure to connect your soundbar to the eARC HDMI port on your TV and all the components (subwoofer and two wireless speakers) get connected automatically to the soundbar, creating the perfect setup for your viewing. I would highly recommend also downloading the SmartThings app and adding this soundbar to it. You will be able to update its firmware to the latest version and tweak all the necessary features (and there are plenty of those!) to your liking.
I enjoy movies as much as I enjoy playing music through my soundbar and Samsung delivers beautiful surround sound thanks to its 11.1.4 built in speakers in just the soundbar itself! The sound stage that it creates is mesmerizing to me. I feel like I get enveloped by the sound when playing my favorite Spotify channels or simply streaming music via Bluetooth. And if you have a Samsung TV, you can integrate this soundbar with the TV speakers as well to make your entertainment even richer.
The soundbar perfect decodes Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus sound tracks and this is really all you need to enjoy your movies. I still have a lot of Bluray movies and paired with this soundbar, my movies shine!
I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to enhance your sound system.

I recently decided to upgrade to a Samsung HW-Q990H because my current soundbar was a few years old and I liked the idea of having rear speakers and the 11.1.4 Surround sound. It was the best decision I have made recently. The quality is just unmatched! Watching action movies you can feel the roar and it puts your right in the middle of the scene. The clarity is just amazing as you can hear whispers coming from behind you and it makes me wonder how much dialog have I missed in some of my favorite movies before.
The soundbar itself is pretty large so make sure you have a good mount or plenty of shelf space for it. The rear speakers are wireless except for power and make sure you pick up a universal speaker stand or a wall mount for them.
Overall if you are in the market for a high end soundbar, This is the way to go!

The king of the sound immersion
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the moment I powered on the Samsung HW-Q990H, I knew that I was in for something special. This surround sound system delivered an audio experience that elevated my home entertainment to new heights. The HW-Q990H brings an expansive soundstage that allows me to hear all of the details with a level of clarity that my older soundbar could not achieve. I am completely immersed in not only my UHD movies and videogames, but even everyday TV such as the news. Considering that my previous soundbar is no slouch, being the Samsung K950 – the output is truly impressive!
One of the biggest praises I have to give is to the wireless performance. In my experience, wireless setups often come with lag, dropouts, or connection issues. I am happy to report that I have had no such experience here. The rear speakers deliver impressive volume that is clear and stands on their own. And with each rear speaker only requiring a power source, it makes for an extremely clean and streamlined setup. It’s literally as easy as plugging them in and having them connect seamlessly.
I have to also give praise to the subwoofer. It delivers a deep punchy bass that enhances the experience without overpowering. I love to use the scene from The Batman when the Batmobile is being introduced for the first time as my sound test. When the engine is roaring to life, you can feel it in your chest! But you don’t lose other sound details such as the rain, or voices from the characters.
I want to also give a quick applause to the ‘private rear sound’ mode in the app, which bypasses audio to play only through the rear speakers. It’s a thoughtful addition that has come in handy when trying to enjoy the soundbar in quieter listening situations.
Overall, the Samsung Q990H strikes a balance between convenience and high-end performance. It’s an amazing choice for anyone who is seeking immersive sound without the hassle of large home entertainment sound systems. I do not see any other soundbars coming close to this one.

It delivers a theater-quality experience right out of the box. From the moment we set it up, the sound quality blew us away. The Dolby Atmos , new soundbar design and rear speakers create a theater like experience that make movies, sports, and regular tv feel iconic. My family loves it, and swears we are at a theater.
What I especially love is how powerful and realistic the sounds come through . Dialogue is crystal clear, even during action-heavy scenes, while the subwoofer adds powerful punch.
The overall design is another feature that complements our room design with modern touches, and a premium feel without being bulky. It blends seamlessly into my setup ( I opted to mount under the tv) and feels like a high-end piece of equipment rather than just another soundbar. Setup was simple , and once connected, the system synced easily with my TV, making everyday use simple and intuitive.
Overall, I’ve been extremely impressed with the Samsung HW-Q990H. If you’re looking for an amazing home theater experience , this one is for you.

The speakers being Bluetooth, makes it so I can set them up anywhere in my living room and really enhance my watching tv experience. There are a lot of different kind of settings you can do to make the sound more to your liking. It has Standard, Surround, Game Pro, and AI Adaptive Sound listening preferences, very cool. When I play music through it from my phone the sound is very clear and one of the top qualities speakers I have ever had. The bass adjustments are also nice too to be able to change them if I want more or less. Great Speaker.

I owned the Q990D before this full kit, soundbar, wireless sub, rear satellites. The question with the new Q990H wasn't whether it would sound good (Samsung's flagship Atmos bars always sound good). It was whether the changes warranted the upgrade. After running both systems side by side, here's the honest read.
The sub is the headline. The Q990H's subwoofer is visibly smaller than the Q990D's placing them next to each other, the footprint difference is immediate. What's impressive is Samsung didn't cut performance to shrink it. Low-end presence is at least as strong, arguably a touch more controlled. You can now place the sub behind a couch, in a cabinet, under an end table spots the old one wouldn't fit.
Wireless that actually stays connected. The Q990D's sub would occasionally drop its wireless link, which pushed me into keeping it closer to the bar than I wanted. The Q990H holds the connection even with the sub placed aggressively around the room. Same story with the satellites. Not a spec-sheet bullet, but it changes how you live with the system.
Satellites: same body, new color. The rear surrounds are essentially identical in size and shape. The one change is finish the Q990D's true black is now a deeper charcoal. My one small gripe: the old black blended better against a dark wall. Not offensive, just different.
Setup is still Samsung's strength. Place it, plug it in, connect to the TV that's the whole install. Auto-pairing, HDMI handshake, and a room-calibration pass that actually gets levels reasonable without intervention. The Samsung app exposes detailed tuning
per-channel levels, EQ, rear delay if you want to go further.
Verdict. Sound quality is at parity with the Q990D. The sub change is material. Wireless reliability is the most underrated improvement in the generation. Color is a minor cosmetic trade.
If your current sub placement isn't working, or you've been fighting dropouts, the Q990H is worth the upgrade. If everything's fine with your D, it's a refinement, not a revelation. For anyone buying into the Q990 line fresh, the Q990H is the easiest recommendation Samsung has made in this lineup yet.

All in one beast that includes everything you need.
I have a 7.4.1 dedicated home theater in the living room with a 16" subwoofer.
This unit is in my square bedroom and rivals my living room setup!
From my understanding, you can add additional speakers through Q Symphony, if you have a compatible Samsung TV.
The only downsides are a weak(ish) subwoofer with no ability to add a 2nd, lackluster app, poor setup instructions.
High quality materials, great sound, lackluster app.
You can use Samsung Sound app or Smartthings to make adjustments. The last auto update stopped the unit from working until a full reset and long power cycle (no notice of the auto update or instructions to reset/power cycle).
Unfortunately mine didn't include the 4 rubber feet for integration with a Samsung TV.

Immersive Soundbar With an Amazing Sub

Once it was set up, the difference in audio quality compared to my old Samsung soundbar was immediately obvious.
