Good microwave
We needed to replace our microwave and thought this one was suitable. I like the various preset buttons it has, including the various defrost options and steam detecting "auto" options. The clock brightness is less bright than our previous unit which I prefer. The only downside is the sensor reheat button cooks the food hotter than I like, but is easily avoided by keeping an eye on the food while it is cooking.

Looks like another winner!
I'm very pleased with my new Sharp microwave. The first thing I noticed is that it is much quieter than my old one. I'm still getting used to some different control features, like one button cooking, but I think they will ultimately prove to be more convenient. My previous microwave was also a Sharp and lasted 24 years, so I was happy to purchase another from Sharp; same size and wattage but with inverter technology which makes it more efficient.

Microwave 1.4 Replaced 1.6
My prior 1.6 version was excellent until it went bad 3 years to the day from purchase. I hope the 1.4 last as long or longer.
Could be my imagination, but the 1.4 seems quieter than the 1.6.

Countertop Microwave Stainless steel.
So far quite satisfied with overall performance and ease of operation. Takes a minute less to boil water than our old unit that this replaced. Touch pad is straight forward for what we use this for. Same dimensional size as old unit so minimul counter rearranging was needed. Based on pricepoint I would recommend.

Works fine.
Works fine. But I do miss the alarm that beeps every 30 seconds when the item has finished microwaving. My old one (a G.E.) had this facility . So I sometimes forget I'd been microwaving something. DO like the array of choices open to me.

Buttons should all be in Bold Font
Although this is the same size and wattage as last model this model is stronger and heats a little quicker. Even though they made the interior a bit smaller it does not impair the quality of how it functions. My only complaint is the keypad is in a very fine spidery font and it is hard to see all the upper buttons, sensor cook buttons, such as defrost and also the kitchen timer. The buttons should all be in bold especially since this is a black panel. I had no trouble with my last Sharp microwave as the font was easily read and not so fine and spidery. But it was also white. So I knock off a star for this as Function is more important than Form in design.

A good solid kitchen Microwave
I bought this to replace my 20+ y/o Sharp microwave, which worked fine, except for some of the LED digits that have gone out. I decided to stick with Sharp, since my old one had been so great. This new one is rated at 1.4 cu ft and the old one is rated at 1.3 cu ft, but this one is smaller in dimension than the old one (I should've compared the actual dimensions, instead of going by cu ft). Other than it being smaller by a couple inches inside, this seems to be a great replacement for my old workhorse!!

It works well. However, I noticed the numbers we use the most (1, 2 and 3) on the selection pad are starting to puff up. Is there a plastic cover on top of the number selection pad that I should have peeled off?

I dislike the color first off, and the door release is stiff not gentle. The glass carosel is heavy when cleaning, but microwave heating is adequate.

Plate rotation ring horrible
The plate ring is horrible, Constantly falling off. Go back to the arm style that slots into bottom. The slightest touch knocks it off rotation and sideways. Worst design.

Stuck With A Lemon?
Although the P.C.Richards experience was wonderful, my salesperson was curteous and professional as well as helpful, and we were able to find my PCR purchasing history which goes back for years! The microwave, that's another story. It makes horrible cranking sounds as it rotates and at times even comes out with a whining screetch. I hate it. Unfortunately because I expected a wonderful experience with the product which replaced my previous model, I recycled the box. Will attempt to switch it out for an exact replacement to see if I was just stuck with a lemon.

Can the Sound be turned off?
I've never tried. It only beeps 5 times when cooking is done and that's all. And the beeps when entering time are not loud at all, but at least you know you're entering the time. Read the manual here. https://manuals.plus/sharp/smc1461hb-w-countertop-microwave-oven-manual. It actually does talk about silent mode. "SILENT MODE
To activate the silent mode:
In waiting state, press and hold “8” for 3 seconds. A long beep will sound. When you press the keys, it does not make a sound. This also disables the end of cooking reminder.
To deactivate the silent mode:
In silent mode, press and hold “8” for 3 seconds. A long beep will sound. When you press the keys, it will make a sound. This will enable the end of cooking reminder."

Is there a 1.1 - 1.4 cu ft stainless steel color microwave oven with a white interior? Sharp has all of the features that I want, but it is difficult to see food splatter on a dark interior surface. The gray interior is the only obstacle.
