Does this model use inverter technology?
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to assist you. The Sharp SMD2479MW microwave drawer does not use inverter technology. Like almost all standard built-in microwave drawers on the market, it relies on a traditional magnetic transformer system to cycle its 950 watts of cooking power.

We bought this microwave a few years ago in black stainless to match our current appliances. We love it! Was wondering if the matte black is different than the black stainless? We want to upgrade our appliances to matte black and are hoping it is differ

Matte black and black stainless are different finishes, your current black stainless model has a metallic base with a darker, brushed appearance and a subtle sheen, while matte black is a solid, non‑metallic color with a smooth, low‑reflective surface and no brushed texture. Because of this, matte black provides a more uniform, flat look, whereas black stainless has a slightly reflective, stainless‑style appearance; while the two finishes can complement each other, they will not match exactly, so we recommend viewing them in person if possible to ensure they meet your expectations.

Is it possible to install SMD2479JS where SMD2470AS came out of without any modification to the cavity? Noteing two differnces: Thickness (Dim H of SMD2479JS is thicker by 25/64 in) and Door height (Dim F of SMD2479JS is:1/8 in taller)
We had a custom install and the clearances would not allow a larger unit.

Is there a 27” trim for this microwave?

Sharp design engineering builds their microwave drawers as dedicated built-in appliances with integrated airflow venting. They are meant to be installed directly into a standard 24-inch cabinet cutout without any extra framing. While Sharp offers 30-inch extension kit panels for select sibling models, they do not make a 27-inch option for this specific matte black unit.

Is the black a stainless steel black?

It features a solid, high-gloss all-black glass front from Sharp's premium Deco Series appliance line. The exterior design of this specific model does not have any brushed metallic black metal or metallic grain textures.

is there a trimkit for a 24 inch microwave draw available for a 30 inch frameless cabinet?

Their structure is meant for direct installation into kitchen islands, peninsulas, or under-counter spaces, providing a clean, flush-mounted look without needing a frame to cover gaps.
Built-in Design: Unlike countertop microwaves that require a trim kit to manage heat and cover gaps, Sharp drawers feature built-in, concealed venting.
