Excellent Quality
We purchased this OTC microwave 18 years ago and it is still working great. It’s easy to use and has everything you need for everyday use. We were thrilled to find out that SHARP still makes this microwave. We recently purchased this same model so when our current microwave does go it will fit in the same space with the same great quality.

Workhorse of a microwave
I bought my first Sharp microwave of this model in 2003 and it worked consistently until the end of June this year, 2025. I had remodeled my kitchen 10 years ago and had that microwave built in. I was worried that I would never find a microwave to fit the space and was thrilled to learn the same model was still available. I bought it quickly, it was delivered and installed and I’m hoping this will be the same workhorse as my previous one was and I won’t have to replace it until 2047.

Its a lifesaver
So glad Sharp is still making this model. It’s a direct replacement for one installed in 2016 and nothing else comes close to fit and performance.

Sharp Replaced An Older Sharp With No Issues
This purchase replaced a similar Sharp we purchased 20+ years ago. This new one is excellent and works great. It has new options not available in the older one. The great thing is that it fit perfectly in the area between wall cabinets and above the countertop.

Totally Dependable
This is our second one of the same model.
The first one lasted 13 years with no problems at all.
We basically used it every day and I also installed it myself.
That’s why we bought the same as before.

So good, got another
This is a rating in advance based on my existing unit which has performed very well for 6 years. I purchased the new unit to have a spare since this model is no longer being manufactured.I have a custom installation and new models unlikely to fit without significant cabinet modifications.

My Second One
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had the earlier version of this unit for nine years before it began to be unreliable, so to make life easy, I bought this unit and popped in into place in a matter of minutes using the old mounting plate - easy peasy. This oven does everything we need and more.

Perfect fit
Perfect fit for replacing exact same model that I've had for 18 years in which the LED screen went bad. Did not have to use the new back plate or hardware for hanging it.

Excellent replacement unit for similar model.
I am most happy that this model was a perfect replacement for our 19 year old Sharp Over-the Counter model. Once we were able to figure out how to take the old one down, the new one installed easily using the same wall hardware. In fact, the owner's manuals were almost identical. The old unit still worked but numbers no longer lit up which made it hard for guests at our house, lol.

Died of natural causes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mom had a sharp microwave and it was 10 years old when she passed away in 2007. We took it home and used it for 16 years before it gave out. The model is not listed of course but I just wanted to say they last a very long time. 26 years is just crazy.

Over-the-counter microwave
There aren’t very many over-the-counter/under the cabinet microwaves available. We were happy with the product, but disappointed that it failed after 2 1/2 years, out of warranty. I was offered a significant discount on a replacement product which we received promptly and is now been installed. We were happy with the device other than its early failure. The new replacement has what appears to be a cream colored opaque ceramic rather than glass turntable which we will have to evaluate. Esthetically we liked the glass better.

Solid microwave
I have used this brand/type of microwave from Sharp for years. I have had no problem with it except sometimes the rotation mechanism has gotten stuck. I try to clean it well in case that is it, and it doesnt happen often, but it is annoying. Otherwise, buttons are clear, heats well, doesnt take up alot of space

Over Counter
We started with this series some 22 years ago, and this will be our third, and we bought it as a backup. We simply take one down, off the wall bracket, and set a new one in. Our area gets a lot of power outage issues which fried the LCD screen in the original and is hard on the electronics generally. This series is great for us since it provides lighting over our coffee/prep counter.

Good oven, weak display
This is the only Over-the-Counter microwave I can find. All the other models are over-the-stove or countertop units. It works well and has a reasonable suite of features. The reason I gave it 4-stars is that I have two units and the display quit on both after 15 years. One oven was used regularly, while the other oven was probably used less that 50 times. All other parts of the ovens were still going strong, but without a working display, I had to replace them. By way of comparison, my other name-brand oven is still working after 20 years.

Great unit, short life span
Love the microwave but we have replaced the original one with the identical unit 3 times (so owned 4 of them) over the 20 years in this house.
Thank goodness the same model has been available because it is built in to our cabinets, and changing the size would mean redoing our cabinets 😟

Sharp is dependable
This was a replacement for the R-1210 model. A very dependable and well-working m/w, but there are more modernand powerful models. The previous one lasted for 15 years!

Microwave
When it worked, it worked well. It stopped working within a year after we bought it. Fortunately Sharp seems to be willing to honor the warranty, but we're still without a microwave for the time being.
