Affordable home theater amplifier
This is a great home theater amplifier that people on a budget will enjoy. Very easy to setup and the fine tuning microphone is a good help. Only thing I think is missing is more bananas plug inputs. The sound is awesome.

Just what I needed
Now that my wife and I are empty nesters we remodeled our house to better meet our needs. Love it!

Receiver used to update my home theater.
I bought this receiver as part of an update my home theater. I like it and it works well with speakers I had before. I needed a new Blu-ray player as I have a library and am concerned about the loss of Blu-ray players as the market disappears.

I bought this as a replacement AV receiver for an older JVC model that quit working. It was simple to install in my 7.2 home theater surround sound system and produces a great sound for movies, sports and general TV programs.

Simple yet powerful
This replaced another home theater receiver of another brand that failed just shortly after its warranty… it was fancier, more expensive and almost impossible to operate due to its complexity…I chose this Sony because its 5.2.2 and easy to figure out and use, stuff I don’t need to deal with is there and tucked away, once initial setup is done, click a source button and play whatever you want.

Great Receiver
I needed to replace my Yamaha RX-A780 7.2 home theater receiver after I lost two channels, and being on a budget didn't think I could get a decent replacement with what I had to spend. I figured I would get this as a stopgap fix but I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up (the Yamaha had a zillion connections to deal with) and use. The Yamaha sounded great but I really didn't need 6 different settings for say, a hall in Munich to enjoy movies or music. The setup menu was super easy to follow, I would recommend this receiver for any budget minded person to enjoy 7.1 home theater sound. Let's face it - a soundbar takes up less room but if you watch movies or stream music as much as I do, this is far better.

great replacement
I purchased this receiver to replace my Sony receiver that was starting to act up ( the display was not always on ) I have all other Sony equipment and wanted to stay with Sony as I have been very happy with this brand.
I was pleasantly surprised that the receiver not only was easy to set up but unlike my previous unit, the receiver recognized all the other gear and actually allowed the sat remote to act as a master so I didn't have to use the main remote to turn it on. This all happened without me having to set it up !

Sound is great
The Dolby Atmos sounds great. Be sure to play with the settings on the devices feeding into the unit. At first my Roku Ultra was trying to upconvert everything to Atmos and it was just Ok. Once I set the Roku to passthru it let the receiver decide what to decode. Worked much better

Easy setup
Had a prior Sony AV receiver that finally died after 10 years. Wanted a replacement that would connect to our existing 5.1 system with remote speakers for our deck and other rooms. The STR-DH790 was easy to install and the easy setup made calibration a snap. The only issue was the change in speaker connection plugs on the prior system to snap in terminals on the DH790. The bluetooth function allows me to play music directly from my phone. So far so good.

Superb AV Receiver
I have the receiver now for a couple of weeks and it is awesome. The surround sound the Dolby sound is unbelievable with my Bose 5.1 speakers. I gave up a Yamaha and I'm so happy that I did it's like being in the movies.

Sold on Sony
Replaced a Denin receiver I had for 8 years. This model was half the price and the sound quality is far superior. In addition, set up and ease of use are MUCH better. I may have to stick with Sony for future needs.

Easy setup
I bought the Sony 7.2 Home Theater AV receiver as a Christmas gift for the family. The setup of my speakers and configuring the receiver was simple and seamless. I love the way it automatically integrated into cable and TV remote, without any interaction on my part and my TV isn't a Sony TV. I just worked! Big thumbs up for the easy setup and integration, regardless of the TV brand. The sound is fantastic and I click one button on my cable remote and it turns on the TV, cable box, and Sony receiver all at once.
