It's the Perfect Pairing
If you're buying speakers the subwoofer is a must. I didn't cut corners and went for the bundle, but there's nothing like powerful lows to complete the package. The integration with other Sony products including my Sony Bravia TV.

Need addition or bigger subwoofer
I will be honest I truly have no idea how this surround sound is supposed to sound to me. This is my first surround sound system I have ever owned and so I have nothing to compare it to.
I do have to say I dont know how I feel about the center channel out cable that makes the voices come out of the tv speakers so it sounds more directly in front of me. I kind of feel like that ruins the experience just a tad bit because I am connecting a low grade speaker to a top grade system and almost drowns out the quality of sound coming from the two front surround sound speakers mounted on the wall. But I will play around with it and see what I like better.
As far as the subwoofer goes it is great truly is immersive vibration but if there was a way to connect a 1000W RMS or higher subwoofer (something comparable like a nightshade v5 2500W sundown audio subwoofer for a car) to this system I would highly recommend adding a new subwoofer to the Sony line up that is twice as powerful as this one or give me the ability to add a second subwoofer to the system.
I can say I have never sat in my living room and watched an action movie and heard bullets zing past my head before. But with this surround sound that is exactly how it sounds and I can say with all honesty it is really an amazing and cool experience to have as my first one.
Hope this helps with future bug fixes and tech updates. Please let me know if you add a new more powerful subwoofer or make it so I can add a second one to the system.

A subwoofer with super bass.
I bought this SA-SW5 300 W three months ago. It is the right sub woofer for my Sony HT-A9 home theater system. It makes my room feel big. I now truly get the theater sound that the system was intended to give out. It is truly a big bang for sound.

Excellent sound
Bought it to pair with the HTA9 and what a difference! If yo have the A9, you need the SA5, the ther wasn't as effective and when I switched to this, it's the bomb! Sounds great and puts the bass to make the sound quality perfect. I have paired with a Sony X95J 85" and spectacular sound! Watch Top Gun or some action movie and it'll move your seat!

Amazing bass for a small package!
I originally had this behind the couch as there as a power point there next to the HTA9 speakers I have back there, but while bass is not normally direction, I could tell it was behind me. So I moved it to the front and it works much better there.

Perfect match for the new HT-A9
This rounds my setup with a Bravia 65” and the HT-A9 surrounds. Room is 20 by 20 and it has enough punch to feel the movie.

When it works
I bought this back in the end of July beginning of August. So far when it works I love it. I would say that it works around 90-95% of the time without incidents. I do not have the volume at max I usually keep it around 30%-50% of its max. It has Bluetooth connection issues specially if it is windy outside. I have noticed that when it is windy I tend to lose Bluetooth connection at random times while using this device. No the device is not outside and no the windows are not open. There is no draft in the home. Other than that, This this is great.
