Works well, but it does not give an instantaneous reading. You do have to wait for the temp reading to rise from ambient temp to temp of meat. It still works pretty quick though, very convenient.

Cheap and poor workmanship
OK, I’m going to add another poor review due to:
1) Poor quality. Loose construction. Not robust.
2) User has to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit each time it is opened with no apparent ability to permanently select F.
3) No instructions to describe calibration process.
4) Quality level is not what I have come to expect from Traeger.

Traeger, please read.
I bought this thermometer because of the Traeger brand, I hold what I consider the Traeger brand in very high regard because of the quality of most of the items that Traeger puts their name on.
When the thermometer arrived, I thought it must have been a mistake. The thermometer is junk, absolutely bottom of the barrel poor quality trash.
Traeger, I still believe in the quality of your products. Traeger needs to pay attention here and take this junk off the website, there is no way you guys can be happy with this product.

Do NOT Purchase this item
I LOVE my Ironwood 650 and everything about it but these Temp pens are another story, If I were Traeger I'd pull this product from the current manufacturer and find another source! I bought one and got home and it did not work, replaced batteries and still nothing, then I got another as a gift from my Son and low and behold the second one did not work either! All they read is --.- and the store where they were purchased won't stand behind either.

Poor thermometer
Bought this about a year ago. Within a couple months, it started malfunctioning. Put it down and meant to call Traeger. Picked it back up a little while later and it seemed to work fine. Now, it is malfunctioning again. Will not read correct temperature, off by like 100+ degrees. Have been thrilled with the Traeger grill and love cooking with it. This has been one item I have bought that is completely disappointing

Bought New - Never Worked Once
I bought this at an authorized traeger dealer and new in package. Turns on but doesn’t measure any temperatures. Do yourself a favor. Buy something nicer for the same amount of $$ and more convenient.
