Cook Like a Pro With Viking Rangetops

Used in restaurants around the world, Viking rangetops can add a professional touch to your home kitchen. These slide-in rangetops sit flush with your countertop and have their controls on the front of the appliance. They come with advanced features including simmer burners, backlighting and a special ignition system. Read on to find out how Viking rangetops could transform your cooking experience!

Getting To Know the Burners on Your Viking Rangetop

On your Viking rangetop, each burner will have a brass flame port. The front burners are the most powerful, and these have 23,000 British thermal units (BTUs). Depending on the configuration you choose, the back burners will have either 8,000 or 15,000 BTUs. The combination of burners with different BTUs gives you maximum versatility for home cooking. The burners with 8,000 BTUs are ideal for frying and sauteing. You can use the burners with 15,000 to 23,000 BTUs for stir-frying, searing and other types of high-heat cooking. When you use the burners with 23,000 BTUs, be sure that you are using proper ventilation in your kitchen. Each Viking burner can be used to simmer food over low heat. To enable the simmering function, you'll need to turn on the VariSimmer setting. This setting provides precise temperature control, and you'll be able to simmer your food evenly and gently.

Understanding the Special Features of Your Viking Rangetop

Unlike other gas rangetops, your Viking rangetop is equipped with a specialized ignition system called SureSpark. If your burner's flame goes out at any time while you're cooking, the SureSpark system will reignite the flame automatically. In addition to the top-quality burners, many Viking rangetops come with an included griddle. The griddle is perfect for making pancakes, French toast and sandwiches. You should use cooking oil or butter on the griddle to prevent sticking. To make cleaning up easier, your rangetop has a seamless burner pan that's made from heavy-gauge porcelain. If food spills onto your burners, the elevated flame ports will prevent the food from baking onto the burners. The backlit LED knobs are another feature of Viking rangetops that you may enjoy. The backlighting will make it easy to see and control the heat on each burner.
