It saddens me to see the few reviews here that are negative and are clueless that not all things work right, this is a counter top model and it's design is not one where it is built to be enclosed. That being said I am very happy with this unit, love the space and the control of cooking or re-heating items going on two years, money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used several times a day for 2 years. Fine so far Built in with the kit. Calibrated the power settings based on the fraction of the cycle time it is on. Energy output agrees with previous microwave. We use it several times a day using the cook-time and cook-power settings. Read the manual. I do not use it for the features. 30-second input by hitting start is quick and handy. Clock is intuitive to set.

Our house was built in October of 2019 and this Garbage came with the house! THIS IS NOT NORMAL. We had a Garbage GE in our previous house and it never acted like that and lasted 16 Years!

This not sound too nice. Garbage now! The timer lights broke after 2 years now the door opens and radiation comes out. The door switch broke! Whirlpool says no parts available! After 4 years?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The microwave is junk I bought this microwave to match my whirlpool stove for my new home in 2020. Well if you have looked at the other reviews they are not fake. The microwave would just randomly start and would not shut off unless you open the door close the door and it comes back on and if you try to heat anything it doesn’t heat. This is a real safety concern. We have small children and I can’t have random kitchen appliances just start in the middle of the night. FYI the trim kit only works with this microwave so you SOL on finding anything that looks decent to replace it.

From troubleshooting, possible that Magnetron component failed, as in both instances, the unit turns on as if to heat, heat nothing ever heats up. Poor quality product, DO NOT PURCHASE

Now seeing lot of problems with the product and the problem with low quality of spare parts. When I close the lid then automatically starts heating without pressing any button/s and will not stop until I open the lid, so it is too dangerous to use now. You can't replace with any other product with the same as the dimension are really matter as I use frame too.

When we open the door, before first time use or getting hot food out, the rotating tray keeps turning and the fan is on. As soon as we close the door the rotating tray and fan turn off as expected.

The microwave just randomly stops working, then starts working and beeping on and off out of the blue. We tried replacing it with another brand, but the measurements for this one is so unique that any other standard microwave won’t fit. Very dissatisfied and frustrated with this product. Don’t buy!

When the process was complete I opened the door and removed, but when I closed the door it kept on running. So I opened the door again and it stopped, but when I closed the door again it began running again without any time on the control panel or pressing the start button. But it is not heating water in a cup now. I just bought this one less than two years ago to replace another Whirlpool microwave that lasted 8 years. I wish that I would have read the reviews, but I took the advice of my local retailer, Cowboy Maloneys.

Talked to customer service (nice lady, not her fault) but was told that Whirlpool will not replace or repair. The company has known about these issues and continued to sell their faulty product without correcting these problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Push Button Door Opener We bought our Whirlpool microwave model UMC5225GZ-1 September 22, 2019. We immediately noticed the "sloppiness", "looseness" of the push button door opener. Almost half the time we attempt to open the door, the door open button it is so loose it moves all the way in to its limit and does not operate the latch and the door does not open. We must release it and try again, pushing it completely in and holding it there to get the door to open. We are very careful and gentle with the opener because it feels weak and ready to fail completely. This simple little part should not be this cheap. We "know" it will fail after the warranty expires and that the expense of having it fixed will not be justifiable.

The paperwork doesn’t even list a bLübeck size or how to! So when I finally got to the back of it, the ground wire looks toasted! It’s 2 years old! I’ve had microwaves for close to a decade and never had the light go out! AND we’ve also experienced the door error everyone e is mentioning! Beyond mad. I’ll have to replace it now with my own money.

The next one couldn’t get the cook power to work, had several,people read instructions and try, nothing, this one is now canceling and zeroing out and giving a door reading, in other words it is working either! A horrible product and not up to Whirlpools usual standards. All of this since December! Now waiting for them to come on line!!
