NINE YEARS OF SERVICE!
When the Hopper 12 came out I thought it would be the perfect lunch cooler for me. In December 2016 I purchased one in grey (that might have been the only color offered). It has been used as a lunch cooler five days a week and on weekends it is used as a cooler on our boat. Never a single rip or tear. The interior is still in perfect shape. Last week two zipper teeth began to fail. NINE YEARS of constant use and it finally broke. What a run! I hate to see it go but I will DEFINITELY be purchasing another one to replace it. We have multiple Yeti items and all are spectacular. Thank you Yeti for building something that will last this long.

Tough as nails
My wife complains about the zipper, but my four month old has no issue opening it up and using it as her personal seat.
In all seriousness though, it does its job and it looks good. Very trendy. I pack it with two small ice packs and everything is still ice cold at the end of a twelve hour shift.
My only gripe is that I wish it came with a few pockets to store stuff. Guess we will have to wait for a revised Sidekick.

great investment
just bought my 2nd , the first 1 i use every day (for the last 4 years) as my lunchbox, i operate heavy equipment so it has seen some rough days,12 hour shifts and my drinks are still as cold as when they were put in. actualy if i put 2 of the yeti ice blocks which fit perfectly in the bottom it will cause them 2 have a thin layer of ice in them. and with a little dawn dish soap and warm water it looks just as good as new, best investment a construction worker can make, im a custmer for life, the 2nd one will be used for the side by side on the weekends for cold beverages. the 12 for lunch and the 18 for cold beverages and fun

Amazing Customer Service
I love our cooler! And I just have to say how amazing the Yeti customer service is. Our zipper failed and they were so quick to respond and provide a replacement, I was so impressed and will continue buying Yeti products because they stand behind their name.

Worth The Money

Works for transporting refrigerated medicine
We bought the 12 cooler for the purpose of transporting refrigerated medication on a trans Atlantic flight. I tested the cooler and ice packs weeks before departure and it worked extremely well when the removable liner was chilled in advance - it held 1 cup of water to 34-46F for 30 hours in ambient temperatures of 65-74F. I opened cooler 4 times to test the temperature and to mimic what might happen on the trip (if TSA opened cooler to inspect it).
Our college aged son traveled to Europe for his study abroad with success - meds arrived safely. Unfortunately his trip was cut short and he had to return prematurely. Given the limited fridge space in his dorm fridge, he could not cool the liner. Without a chilled liner, the cooler did not keep temps as low for as long- it stayed below 46F for about 16 hours.
We used 5 frozen gel packs each time. We used the packs that his meds are shipped with from the specialty pharmacy. When I tested more than 5 gel packs or when I used other gel packs (Shock Coolers), the water we were using as a test solution froze; his meds cannot be frozen. But he could’ve used more than 5 packs when liner wasn’t pre-chilled.
He had no trouble with any of the 3 airlines he used - he carried this cooler on as a carry bag and 12 cooler fit in the overhead compartments on Swiss Air, Helvetica Air, and Lufthansa. I did investigate if Swiss Air would not count this a carry on, but as medically necessary equipment (so he could bring a carry on bag as well), but Swiss Air said no, it qualified as a carry on. I didn’t bother asking the other airlines after that refusal.
Hope this review helps anyone else who has to fly with refrigerated meds. We will keep this cooler to use on future trips or when the electricity fails and our fridge gets too warm, and I purchased a second cooler (the 8) when it was on sale. That smaller cooler will be for trips that are shorter in length (and therefore require less meds). Our son did say that the 12 got a little heavy to haul through multiple airports.

Great cooler
Bought the 12 soft Great for the beach. I live in Key West with the Yeti ice and one tray of ice cubes it lasts for hours. Just keep the zipper lubed and it works great. I was so impressed I just bought the 18 so when family and friends come to visit we have plenty of cold beverages for the beach .Definitely recommend this cooler.

Holds in the cold
I bought this bag over 4 years ago when I moved to Florida. It's I believe their first generation of the bag. It has a few issues I think they've fixed with the newer generations; however, it keeps things cold. I was one of the travelers with a certain airline that canceled my flight and lost my bag. I had packed some frozen steaks and chops for Christmas dinner. I put some frozen gell packs in with them and filled the bag with some clothes. Four days later, the airline finally recovered my bag. I was dreading opening and smelling my cooler. To my surprise the gell packs and meat were still frozen solid. This thing will keep your stuff cold!

Fantastic cooler
I use my Yeti 12 for work, play, and any other occasions that arrive. I have no complaints on my end. I lube the zipper with chap stick to keep it lubricated. Works every time. I wash it once a month to keep the cooler looking like new.

Trust what Yeti says!
This is not a complaint, but rather just my amusing experience.
I just noticed that the Yeti website now says that Hopper coolers are NOT compatible with dry ice because they are airtight. I swear that it was previously only advertised as leakproof.
The Hopper 12 cooler was a gift from my kids...fortunately...I don't think I would have purchased it for myself at that price! But I wouldn't trade it for anything now. The cooler and zipper are absolutely unbelievable!!! I can't imagine a cooler with a zipper to be leakproof...but it is! In fact, my Hopper 12 is AIRTIGHT!!! I once used it to transport ice cream with dry ice. When I picked up my Hopper 12 cooler I noticed that it was bulging on all sides. I quickly cracked opened the zipper and heard/felt a rush of escaping air from the cooler, and the cooler sides returned to normal. I think either the zipper might have been damaged or the cooler would have exploded if I hadn't found it in time.
Trust what Yeti says! This cooler is also fits under seats and much less space in overhead bins on airplanes - perfect for taking frozen treats on long trips (just leave the zipper cracked if you have dry ice inside).

Works great!
I use the Hopper 12 with one Yeti Ice block and the ice block only melts about 10% after all day in my hot work truck in the hot Tampa Bay summer heat. Just Awesome! And the usual Yeti durable quality as well!

Worth the money
I have no scientific evidence to prove this.... but I honestly believe this cooler lowers the temperature of the ice or whatever cooling element is utilized. I'm trying to find a way to attach a photo here because I took a picture of a beer I had in my hopper for 5 hours with only a muscle therapy cold pack and a 3" x 6" ice pack. The bottle looked like I just chipped it out of a glacier. These coolers are ridiculously overpriced but if you never want to worry about keeping your junk refrigerated. It is well worth the money.

Perfect size for longer shifts.
I bought both the Flip 8 and the Flip 12. The Flip 8 is a perfect size on the outside, however the insulation takes up a good inch all around the inside, making it a little small for my needs. I work 12+ hour shifts so I generally use the Flip 12 which gives me a little more room for my meals. The Flip 8 works best for a single meal.

The flip is so easy, I own the larger magnetic hopper 30 that seals well, but it’s is so hard to load and unload except for drink cans -and they are difficult to load also…

Green is the color
I gave this cooler as a thank you gift and the receiver was very pleased. He had fallen in love with my little green and orange cooler and this larger size is the only green one I could find in your current stock. Bring back that pop of orange soon and he'll buy that too!
