Perfect replacement for an old work horse.
Replaced our old Friedrich a/c, which conked out after 21+ years of service, with this one & it has performed great - powerful as the old one, but quieter & with more options to control temps.
Very Happy. PCRichards was great co-ordinating the delivery & installation with my wife since I was in the hospital & obviously not available.

Friedrich 28,000 btu window A/C
It’s heavy but worth the effort. And very Quiet. If you don’t have a second person to hep lift it into the casing, pay to have it installed. This unit along with my Friedrich 14,000 btu unit cools my entire 1600 sf lower level very nicely, even in 90 degree plus temps.

Quality - but Mexico built
With production now in Mexico, its still a good product but it seems the overall quality is slightly lower. I had the equivalent of this unit that was made in USA in 2006 and it seems that the older unit was quieter when the compressor was on. This one produces high pitch squeals and random buzzing when the compressor cycles on for a minute or two.

Manufacturer dropped the ball on this one.
Impossible to hook up wifi, don't even try. Can only run unit on high if it's raining out pan fills up with water (for energy savings reasons) if you run the unit on low or medium like this It sounds like it is bogging down severely you can also hear a tremendous amount of water inside, i had a tech come over he said when this happens put the unit on "high fan"to get the water out and when you run it on a regular basis run it on "high cool" not really what I wanted to hear for a $2300 unit.

2 Friedrich units installed, including the most recent one, they all have a very noisy fan. Replaced each time because of this issue. Noise is very disturbing and for a product that has such a good reputation, it is not acceptable.

Poor sleeve design and to much water at base
I have purchased a number of Friedrich units over a 40 year period. This news unit replaced a 38 years 28 BTU Friedrich that gave excellent service and never needed any repair or replacement parts. It was rusting out and time for replacement. This new Friedrich replacement is a disappointment at best. The fan is designed to pick up water from the base and throw it on the condenser. This is to help make the unit more efficient. However at times it sounds like paper stuck in the unit as the fan throws the water internally. The really bad thing is the unit has vent holds at the top of the sleeve or case which allows rain to flow into the unit. In a heavy rain with the unit is running it sound like a chugging train. In addition there are no drawn holes so any debris that enter with the rain will likely just in time remain at the base and create issues beyond any extended warranty period. Friedrich was very polite but not helpful. I was unable to obtain tech support to answers to my questions as a customer. I was told tech support was available but only to a professional technician no to a customer. The holes at the top of the sleeve are to vent warm air so you can't cover them. The issue is in the design where they should have done something to help prevent rain from entering the unit. I expect the unit will start to rust out in a few years do to the retention of water and debris collected over time at the base of the unit. I would have rated it 4 to 5 for ease of use and cooling but the sleeve design and fan throwing water sound is a 1 or 2 at best..

I’m replacing my 28,000 BTU Friedrich AC with another Fridrich 28,000 BTU unit I would like to know if I could use the same sleeve
just make sure the measurements are the same otherwise you will have gaps of air coming in and then will need to put some kind of installation strips where needed.

No the 28,000 btu unit is a 220 line on a 20 amp breaker which is different , I have the 36,000 btu unit as well which IS on a 30 amp breaker the plug configuration is different
