Beautifully rich sound for the home
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cove X1 has an amazingly rich sound profile, that stunned me the first time I used it. Sitting at the center of a fairly large living room area, the X1 sounds wonderfully vibrant no matter where in the room you sit.
The fantastic sound combined with the convenient streaming options, that make connecting to and playing from this speaker a breeze, make this a fantastic choice to pick up for your home.

I honestly had no expectations going into this, but the sound, clarity, stereo imaging, and just how loud it gets without distorting completely blew me away.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first thing I noticed was that it does have a little weight to it Something about that alone, when I was putting it on my desk, told me this was probably going to be a decent speaker. I just wasn't expecting it to be this good.
Setup was flawless. I connected through Bluetooth first, which was quick and easy, and then set everything up through the JBL app to get all the Wi-Fi features and everything else. The entire process was honestly about as easy as it could be.
The sound coming out of this thing is incredible. I started with trance and dance music, which is perfect for testing a speaker because there can be so much going on in the mix. I could clearly hear different elements exactly where they were placed, and the stereo imaging really impressed me. High-resolution music over Wi-Fi sounds stunning.
It also gets LOUD. I pushed it pretty hard and never felt like the sound was falling apart or becoming distorted. What surprised me even more is that I haven't customized the sound yet. I genuinely like how it sounds right out of the box, so I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can get out of it once I start playing with the settings.
My one complaint so far is the controls on top. They're touch controls, so there's not much tactile feedback, and they don't appear to light up. In a darker room, that makes it difficult to see what you're pressing without looking closely. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's one part of the design I think could have been better.
I went into this without any real expectations, and it honestly blew me away.

Pint Sized Powerhouse of Sound!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Cove X1 has thoroughly impressed me and blown me away with its classic JBL sound, but with a lot of features packed into a sleek, modern, compact speaker. The classic JBL bass is evident with the first use and provides phenomenal sound in larger areas as well as small rooms.
The 200 watts of power give the Cove plenty of volume, while the combination of dual woofers and four tweeters delivers surprisingly deep bass while keeping vocals and music crystal clear. Dolby Atmos Music also adds a more immersive feel that makes listening to my favorite songs more enjoyable.
One of my favorite things is how easy it is to stream and connect the Cove X1. You can use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, along with AirPlay, Google Cast, and Spotify Connect, so it fits easily into the way I already listen to music. The Music Follows Me feature is especially cool because it makes it easy to move my music from one room to another without having to start over.
The AI Sound Boost and automatic room tuning are nice touches as well because the speaker adjusts to help deliver consistent sound without a lot of tweaking.
Overall, the JBL Cove X1 is a great choice for anyone looking for room-filling sound without a complicated setup. The speaker looks great, sounds even better, and has the versatility to add other JBL speakers' products to make it more than just another Bluetooth speaker.

Awesome sound from a great speaker.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received and unboxed my new JBL Cove X1 bluetooth speaker. All black 7" x 10" and 7" tall. Weighs 11 pounds. Only came with a 6.5 foot power cord. Has a USB port on the rear where the power cord attaches. Power switch (slider) on top rear. Powered on and automatically updated through the JBL One app, connected via wifi, and auto tuned to match the room environment. Only has a red power light on front and a white light top rear that comes on when you press any buttons like play and volume changes. Buttons are bluetooth, play volume +/- and a moment button looks like a heart. That button allows nature sounds like Forrest, rain, ocean, city, spotify tap and playlist. The speaker also will connect to several apps like google cast, alexa, and others that I will not be using. There is an EQ that has JBL Signature, Voice and my favorite Energetic. Speakers are topside tweeter, rear subwoofer, and speakers on L/R and front. Sound is amazing. Really fills the room with clear awesome sound. Bluetooth range is good thru my house. Bass is really good. I use yahoo music from my phone to connect and control. You can only forward or reverse songs from JBL One app or yahoo app. When not in use this has a 10 minute deep sleep mode. Compared to other JBL speakers and soundbars I own, this is a really impressive speaker. I highly reccomend. I'll only be using inside, so not sure of outside use. Another great speaker for my JBL collection.

The Cove X1 delivers powerful room-filled sound, looks great in a real home set up, and performs exceptionally well, even when placed in a less than ideal spot!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Cove X1 delivers impressive sound that fills my room with rich detail and strong bass. I placed it on my desk behind one of my angled desktop monitors, which is not the best location for a speaker, but I wanted to show how it fits into a real home setup. Even in the spot, the sound carries through the room extremely well. It keeps it clarity and depth and performs far better than I expected for a placement that is not ideal. This alone shows how well tuned the speaker is.
The design looks great in person. It is sleek and modern, and it fits into my workspace without standing out too much. The size is just right and the weight feels solid without being heavy. It does not vibrate or rattle at high volumes and is well built. It stays in place on the desk and has a clean, premium feel.
The JBL One app makes the speaker easy to use. Setup was simple and Wi-Fi streaming works smoothly. I like that the speaker pulls music directly from the Internet instead of relying on Bluetooth although Bluetooth is an option. The sound quality is better in my experience and I can walk away with my phone without interrupting anything. The built-in ambient sounds are a great bonus. The white noise and nature options are perfect for relaxing. I actually use this feature more than I expected.
I wondered why there was no remote, but I realized I never use the remotes that come with half my devices anyway. The app gives me more control and feels more modern. The only downside is that JBL has different apps for different product lines. I understand why, but I still wish everything could be in one app with separate sections for each device.
Auracast works well and makes it easier to link other JBL speakers for a bigger sound or multi-room setup. Overall, the Cove X1 is a strong and reliable home, speaker with excellent sound and a clean design. It fits perfectly into the JBL ecosystem and performs extremely well, even with a
less than ideal placement in my home.
In my opinion, JBL keeps proving why they’re leading the market right now with products that deliver real quality and an experience that feels a step ahead of everyone else.

Incredible room filling sound.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new speaker from JBL is like no other. The sound, with 3d spatial capabilities, is astonishing! Every tone is right on, bass is full and the treble is crisp and clean at any volume. Using your preferred AI assistant, you can dial in any song or podcast with ease. The JBL One app has all the streaming services available at your finger tips as well. Very easy to set up and dial in, it has a built in mic to tune the surround sound to your specific placement. One other feature is the USB input for books or music "on tape", you control this through the app as well. I absolutely love the new Cove lineup, and look forward to adding more speakers around the house to complete the system.

Big Sound, simple setup
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Cove X1 is designed for anyone who loves their music that doesn’t want to spend hours wrestling with wires or deciphering complicated manual. It’s a compact system promises to fill a room with sound but without take up a lot of space. If you’re looking for a straightforward way to elevate listening experiences, this speaker makes a strong first impression.
The sound quality of Cove X1 is genuinely enjoyable. We tested it with acoustic folk to base heavy hip hop and it handles all with grace. Voices in podcast and movie come through with Crystal clear so you’ll never miss the whisper. The base is deep and punchy. It doesn’t overpower the rest of the music, creating a balance that is easy on the ears. High notes like cymbal crashes or string instruments, have a nice sparkle that keeps the music lively. At moderate levels. The audio is rich and detailed, and even when you crank up the volume for a party, the sound stays clean and doesn’t get distorted. It’s the kind of speakers unless you kick back and get lost in the playlist.
This speaker is perfect for the casual listener who wants great audio without the headache of complex components. The accompanying app JBL One as of this review date 9/3/2026 has not enable to be added to JBL Bar 500 in its “create a theater set” tab as additional channels, which is disappointing since it’s 3 channels could serve as a great rear speaker for richer surround sound for the sound bar. It does play music from its USB port. If you appreciate clear sound and minimalist looks, and you want something that works right out of the box, this is a fantastic choice.

Amazing Room Filling Sound in a Sleek Package
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sound on the JBL Cove X1 is amazing. It really does fill the room, and that is easily my favorite thing about the speaker. The sound feels more immersive than directional, almost like it's coming from around the room rather than from one specific speaker.
The speaker itself feels solid and well built. It is a little heavier than I expected, but it has a sleek design and is a great size. I tried it in both the corner of my kitchen and in my living room, and it fit great in both spaces. I also like the monochromatic design because it helps the speaker blend into the room instead of standing out.
The setup was super easy using the JBL One app. I prefer video instructions, so I also recommend watching JBL's short setup and how-to video. It goes over the controls and makes it easy to learn how to use the speakers' functions. I found the video especially helpful for quickly understanding what all the controls do.
I was also surprised by the Moment button, which looks like a heart. It gives you access to ambient sounds, and this feature is much more elaborate than I expected. I particularly liked the ocean sound and actually found myself using it.
Overall, I'm really impressed with the sound quality. For its size, I wasn't expecting it to fill a room as well as it does. I really recommend this speaker to anyone who wants a sleek, unassuming home speaker with amazing sound quality

Whole-House form and function on steroids
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL Cove X1 takes whole-home audio to the next level with great convenience features and amazing sound quality!
When unpacking this speaker, the first thing I noticed was its sleek fit and finish and hefty weight. I looked at the back of the box that shows a transparent view of the Cove X1 and was blown away by the size of the magnets on the 2 main internal drivers. Massive for a speaker this size!
Set up was a breeze and works perfectly with the JBL One app. I’m a Spotify fan so I really love the Moment button! (I did notice that whenever I use this feature, it plays a split second of the song and then plays normally. I hope JBL will fix this on a future software update). I also loved trying out all the EQ settings on the Cove. After listening to all of them for a while, I like JBL Signature the best, but you may prefer vocal, chill, energetic or your own custom settings.
I also think you’ll love how this impossibly small speaker fills up a large room with its incredible sound, probably thanks to the built in Dolby Atmos. The Cove continuously fine tunes your music to the room regardless of the volume. I got nervous the first time a cranked it up but it didn’t matter. Whether soft or loud, this speaker just nails it! Bass is deep and rich, vocals are always sharp and distinct! This one has sound quality so good you can listen for hours which I find myself doing more and more.
I plan on adding a few more of these speakers to other rooms in the house, but for now, I’m really enjoying this one in the living room which usually plays the minute I get home!

Small and loud.

The sound is pure JBL performance, clear even at volume, versatile unit that pairs with available platforms. Built solid with appealing color to match your audio setup. The added security using your VPN passwords is comfort to avoid any intrusion. Customization with the JBL One app
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] JBL Cove X1 is an Awesome speaker! It has Really deep bass that fills the room. The Mids and Highs complement the deep base perfectly. It fits on my bookshelf and don’t take up much space. Really love this speaker. The controls are really simple. The JBL app makes customizing your sound really simple. The Dolby Atomos makes it sound like I have multiple speakers throughout the room. I highly recommend the JBL Cove X1.

Audio powerhouse
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cove X1 is a simple yet effective smart speaker. I love the option to physically disable the microphone, which turns the speaker into an audio powerhouse. I wish it had a battery so it could be used without being plugged in. Despite that one qualm, this speaker sounds great at all angles due to its 360 degree internal speaker design. I wish it had slightly more bass, but it is limited by its compact size. It sounds as good as it possibly can based on its physical size.

A powerhouse in a small package.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] high quality. My ears can detect the individual instruments, and vocals are extremely clear. This speaker urge you to turn the volume up. I was worried vocals would stand out and be overpowered leaving no room for bass, but they blend nicely. I placed this toward the center of the room with good results hearing the bass come to life its a balanced bass not heavy Definetly needs the sound bar system if going for full sound. Easy to setup and use. I like the nature sounds feature that allow you to relax in moments you need to wine down or you want a nap just go to sleep with Alexa integration on voice command you never have to touch it just command from anywhere. This a great addition to your home decor that will blend in and surprise guest.
Pros: looks and sounds great own it's own but will definitely shine with whole system integration
Cons: I wish this was battery operated

Fun, Dense, and Impressive For Its Size!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually don't have a lot to say about this. Its usability is great wherever I've used it so far: living room, bathroom, and kitchen. It sounds quite good, and has some flexibility with the EQ depending on where it is. For example, in the bathroom, I found that it could use -3dB of bass, while the living room could use an extra 3dB from its baseline.
The sound doesn't change much in different locations around a room surprisingly, though note that walls or objects around the sides or front of the speaker will (the auto-calibration helps with this -- which the green switch on the back toggles on and off).
Some quirks, though:
• The top speaker is only used for "Atmos" tracks. This is neither a positive nor negative, but Atmos that is less than 7 different speakers (18 or more would be preferred) isn't true surround sound, so don't expect to much from that.
• The Cove X1 seems to disconnect from Wi-Fi after some time in standby, so it disappears from the available-to-cast list for UPnP, Tidal Connect, and Airplay (which are the three I used to test this). When inactive, you have to hit one of the capacitive buttons to wake it up, at which point is shows up on lists again. I guess this means this thing isn't actively tracking all of your wifi traffic and devices like some other wifi-enabled devices, but it's a minor inconvenience (that could be fixed with an update).
Controls and I/O are minimal: Bluetooth, Volume-, Play/Pause, Volume+, and "Moment", which plays ambient sounds or a playlist when you hit it. It can play music from a USB drive or (I think) SD card via SD-USB reader, though the USB slot doesn't allow you to use your phone wired.
I like it! Would recommend!
