Good Clear Ice Machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The kitchen aid under counter ice maker has performed well for 4 months now. We purchased it to replace an “avalon” machine that was un-reparable. It is much quieter,which we like very much. Our only complaint is that the size of cubes are a little small compared to our previous machine. The kitchen aid controls, light, filter and overall ease of use are all very positive.

Under counter ice maker
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased as a replacement for my 15 year old ice maker. The new design looks great! It has great efficiency and seems to be a little faster than the older model. I’m happy that I purchased a KitchenAid product again. I I have been using your products for years now.

Second time around
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] this is our second/fourth Kitchenaide ice maker (my dad had 2 also). the last one died per the technician due to a “main board” going out. Anyway, we tried a Koolsomething that made the “nugget” ice. Not good for whiskey and NOISEY as all get out. Cheaper but it got sent back. Ordered this one, came in dinged and apparently previously hooked up but I knew how to fix the hookup issue and the ding was on a back corner…no issues. Quiet, good wet ice, good to have it in the kitchen again.

Good, not great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Does a decent job of keeping ice available and consistently uniform size. However, it runs very hot. We were in a vacation home recently with an icemaker of a different brand and it was very cool. Ours has 100 degree air circulating around it at all times. A tech said it is within tolerance, but I worry about effect on service life. Also, tech said there are other button sequences that do things like changing the size of the cubes. I could not find these documented anywhere in the manual or online. Lastly, perhaps due to running hot, the ice always feel a lot wetter than other ice makers I’ve seen, and frequent drainage sounds confirm this.

The installation went well
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first machine was not installed correctly. The machine moved around then would stop working. Kitchen aid or whirlpool finally sent a new machine after several months of 4 hour phone calls! After correct installation this one seems to be working properly. With a hold on that since it’s only been two months! And the fact that my husband had to secure it better after the installers were finished. Per their instructions. I want to say this ice machine will be great, unfortunately I am holding that review to find out in a few more months if this was really a fix. For now the machine is working well!

Honest Input
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this icemaker to replace an Electrolux model that broke and was unable to be repaired. Unfortunately, the pump apparently failed less than 30 days after it was put into service, and was just replaced. Hoping that this unit has no further issues and remains in service for many years, but only time will tell.
That being said, I can now contrast this model versus the previous brand for comparison. First, the quality of the ice isn’t quite as nice - the Electrolux created very clear cubes, and on this unit the ice is not so clear. However, the ice that is generated is fine regardless.
As for quantity, this unit surpasses the other and easily keeps the bin full.
The design features are nice and the controls are well integrated and easy to use.
The other brand vented at the bottom front, but this unit vents in the rear and tends to generate more heat from around the enclosure.
Fingers crossed that it ends up being a reliable appliance for us going forward.
