Love my maytag

No More Stinky Front Loader!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So glad to finally be rid of our stinky front loader that we always had to leave the door open due to the fungal infested rubber boot. This top loader is a joy to use!
I really like the selection of using the 1 hour normal wash or the 25 minute quick wash. Plus it senses the load level which saves on water use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this after my old Whirlpool gave up on me after 14 years of use. This seemed to have the best reviews overall out of all the washers I looked at, and after owning and using this for a little over a month, it has lived up to expectations so far. I noticed quite a few reviews that say the washer doesn't fill up with enough water, and at first it looked like I was going to have the same issue, but there's a trick: the washer will initially start off with a lower amount of water, *but* as the cycle keeps going, more water gets added. Not sure if this depends on the cycle/fill type type selected or not, but I leave the fill setting to "Auto" for most loads and it seems to work.
That being said, I did have an odd moment where I was washing towels and washcloths, and I noticed the load sounded a bit louder than normal. I looked in the lid and saw the towels and washcloths being jostled around, but there was no water! I cancelled the cycle and opened the lid, but noticed the towels *were* completely damp, as though water had been used after all. This happened when using the Heavy Duty cycle, so maybe it's normal for that cycle? I did restart the load under Bulky Items and it finished fine, so not sure what happened there. May have to experiment a bit more with the settings.
I did have another instance where I got an "out of balance" error message when washing bed sheets, but the cycle finished fine and the sheets were clean. In fact, everything I've thrown into this machine seems to wash okay, and there's a nice variety of cycle settings to pick from. I usually use Colors, Normal, Delicate, and Bulky Items. I have not tried the "Custom Cycle" setting as it requires the smartphone app, and I'm not really interested in the smart features. May I'll try it someday on a whim, but for now, I prefer to control my laundry myself and not have it be handled by an app.
I did switch to liquid detergent per suggestion of one of the guys who delivered and installed the machine. Took a bit to get used to using liquid all the time again after using pods for so long, but it seems to be fine. I do wonder if pods are potentially a problem for these machines, but I'm not willing to find out. I was also advised to avoid powder detergents and any fabric softener products for the washer, so if there are users that were using those products and are having difficulty with the machine, you may want to reconsider.
One warning I will give is that the washer is pretty deep, so if you're short like me (5 feet, 3 inches), you do have to stretch a bit to get to stuff at the bottom. I won't deduct a star for this because it's my own fault for not checking this aspect before buying. I meant to, but completely forgot. Will have to invest in a step stool at some point. Granted, this isn't a deal-breaker as I'm able to reach most of my items without trouble since they pile/stick up enough for me to grab without issue. The biggest advantage with the size/depth is that I'm able to wash my comforter at home now! No more laundromat visits for that.
Another issue, but one I expected: there is standing water in the dispenser tray at the end of every cycle. I had this same issue with my Whirlpool, but I got around it here with the same fix for my Whirlpool: remove the entire tray, then remove the separate detergent dispensing tray and dump the water from it and the main tray into the washer. Then, re-insert the main tray, but leave it pulled out so it can air dry. The detergent tray should also stay pulled out, but leave it sitting on the main tray upside down so it can air dry, too. This is vital if you want to avoid mold buildup.
Overall, I like it! It's nice to have a newer machine that's large enough to wash my comforter, and also have multiple cycle types to choose from. I also like the see-through lid so I can check the load if needed. If you're willing to put up with some of the quirks I mentioned above, I recommend it.

Nice and quiet and love the big drum.

After 10 years the previous one's agitator broke off at it's base. Bummer, bur I still love my Maytags and the previous, previous one had lasted 18 years. Hope this new one does as well.

Really Cleans

Previous washer was a top of the line LG, which was nice but ultimately did not utilize enough water to get laundry really clean. This Maytag really gets laundry CLEAN. White sheets and towels that were dingy before are now coming out sparklingly white without changing anything but the washing machine. Also LOVE that this washer allows me to dispense water to soak laundry or rinse my detergent cup with the push of a button. Very happy customer!

Superior performance
