Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional sound, value, qaulity I replaced my delightful RTiA9s with the L800s. I wanted the SDA and bigger soundstage, and wow do these speakers deliver! I am hearing subtle aspects of songs never heard before; the soundstage and SDA is wholly immersive, bright but not harsh, warm sound, not too power hungry. Powered by a NAD388, soon to be upgraded to the M33, I am still breaking these fantastic speakers in. The wood finishing, metalwork, and assemble/finish is top quality. These speakers were engineered with the love of music in mind, and they are a resounding audio achievement, and I am grateful to enjoy them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy of the Legend Title! Best Polk speakers in years! They're finicky to set up and need lots of power to sing. Properly set up, They will reward you with excellent, cohesive, non fatiguing sound with extended deep bass and ultra wide soundstage. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Speakers... I am going to be as honest as I can be in this review... after three days of listening, I very nearly sent them back! My previous speakers were a set of completely updated Polk Audio SDA-SRS 1.2TL's, which were the very best speakers I have had in my setup. My expectations were incredibly high for these L800's, a speaker that I was hoping Polk would someday build. Out of the box, the build quality was impressive, and I eagerly connected them and sat down to listen. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement, and prompted a to call and get a return label! There was no way these speakers could possibly best my 1.2TL's... As fate would have it, I was unable to get them packaged before FedEX came to take them, so I kept playing with them. At about 100 hours in, the L800 finally began to deliver what I was hoping to hear. They are highly accurate, involving and detailed. While very unforgiving of poorly recorded music, they excel at bringing out the smallest details within your music. What caught my attention was the way I could hear the wind in the microphones of the "Get Back" rooftop sessions performed for the The Beatles "Let It Be"... Highs are exactly what they should be, fast, crisp and airy. Mids are superb... I find with my setup, that a nice sub or two elevates listening by allowing increased authority to the bottom end, which frees up the L800 to do what they do best. The SDA functions are sublime and shocking at the same time. The soundstage, especially for music that involves many pieces, like Big Band or Orchestra/Choir music is MASSIVE and enveloping without ever sounding congested or muddy. Bottom line is... I LOVE MY SPEAKERS!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown away! This is the speaker that people like me (SDA devotees) have asked, no, BEGGED, Polk to build for 20 years. And it delivers in SPADES. It is an amazing loudspeaker. AMAZING. And it is, IMO, an AMAZING bargain. Employed properly, true stereo separation is phenomenal....and if you've never had experience with SDA (inter aural crosstalk cancellation) it is important to understand it. The criticisms leveled in the press are because the reviewers don't understand it. It will not fix a poor recording. It's not a bandaid. The L800 also requires proper placement and setup for best results.....but what high end speaker doesn't? I assure you, however, that the effort is well worth it. To be honest, as a long time Polk fanatic, I've lost touch with Polk over the past decade...but the L800 is a world class performer. Hands down. The treble is airy and extended, the midrange is to die for and the bass is deep and tuneful...if it doesn't have the last iota of definition, it is certainly not bloated and flabby. Again, any perceive sins are sins of omission (and there are few) than of commission. If you are in the market for a high end, destination loudspeaker.....you owe it to yourself to audition the L800
