To be clear, however, we had a number of repairs of parts that were previously made of metal and are now being made of plastic (planned obsolescence?) So far we've had no issues. time. We shall see.

Our previous Maytag was an open drum and "automatic" wash selections. It cleaned well, but this washer is even better. We live on a nature preserve with lots of opportunities to get dirty and mostly heavy clothes (jeans, etc.) to clean. This machine is a necessary workhorse.

It's slightly noisier than the front load style we had before. It was also Maytag 20-25 years old. Had to be serviced a few times but overall a great machine.
