Replacement microwave
This microwave replaced a Sharp Model R-308HK 6 year old model that died. So far, it meets all expectations as we had with the old model.

Sharp Carousel Review
Pleased with performance. Purchased this model because I was pleased with previous experience with a similar model from Sharp.

Just what I needed
Went to stores and websites looking for a microwave that had all the ‘right stuff’. Some were too big, too small, too expensive, had a handle, not the right color inside or out, too heavy, etc. This particular model had the features I was looking for. I am pleased with it.

Sharp Carousel
My last microwave was a Sharp Carousel and lasted over 20 years. I started using the new updated one and love it!

Sharp Carousel Microwave is the best choice
I previously had a Sharp Carousel model, so when it finally broke after having it for a very long time, I decided to purchase the same model again. Although the design is different, I like it very much overall. I appreciate that the inside is grey instead of white. It also features a door lock option, which I don't need, but it's a nice safety feature for those with small children who might try to open the door during operation. The clock is dull and not as bright as the previous one, but that's okay. It also takes a while for the "new" smell to go away. Other than that, it's a good microwave. I hope it lasts as long as the first one did.

Happy customer here! :-)
Perfect size microwave ! After adjusting to some different functions, find it easy to use. Seems more powerful than my old one, plus it takes up less space. Got it in black, to match other kitchen accessories. Looks great!

Well worth the 5 Stars
This is my second Sharp microwave. The first lasted 20 years. I applaud the changes made on my new microwave. I'm still getting use to some of them but I am extremely pleased with the product. It is basically very similar to my first one which was flat in the back. This one has a bulge in the back which does interfere with the centralized plug in the back of the enclosure. This is not a huge problem but did surprise me since it does stick out of the enclosure about a half inch. I highly recommend this product!

Child lock door
I really like the microwave. I had some trouble removing the child lock on the door but now that I disabled it, I'm very happy.

Replaced Similar 25 year model
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had an almost exact same model for 25 years, the turntable carriage finally wore a groove in the base, so we went with the same as before. There are a few slight differences and it is just slightly smaller, but works great. Hopefully this one lasts another 25 years!

Sharp Microwave Oven SMC1461HB
I've been buying Sharp microwave ovens for the past thirty years. The newest model I bought, SMC1461HB, satisfied my expectations. Effective heating options and easy to use thanks to a good instruction booklet. I would recommend this microwave oven.

Sharp microwave
Works fine.
Works fine. But I do miss the alarm that beeps every 30 seconds when the item has finished microwaving. My old one (a G.E.) had this facility . So I sometimes forget I'd been microwaving something. DO like the array of choices open to me.

Sharp Microwave
So far the unit is working fine. The only negative comment is that the control panel should light up because it is hard to see in a low light situation.

Very different from older model being replaced
Disappointed with this microwave for several reasons: 1) This was purchased to replace a same cu-ft Sharp Carousel oven, but the rotating glass base is about 1" narrower than the original glass base. WHY? 2) This new glass base has 3 "feet" under it, but they are much closer to the center than the original, and this destabilizes the glass: when I pull something out of the oven the glass frequently pulls out with the food. Terrible. 3) The speed of rotation is very different than the old model. The old oven spun at 3 RPM, meaning one full turn of the glass took 20 seconds, so you could set the time as needed to get your dishes or mugs to spin the exact amount to return the handle back to the starting point rather than being rotated way around to the back. This is terrible. 4) I hate having to press the Time Cook button before I enter the cook time. After 30 years of simply entering the cook time, this is really annoying. 5) The dark interior makes it much, MUCH harder to see the food and dishware, and especially any spatters on the oven. The old lighter (off-white) color insider was perfect.

Solid microwave needs a lighted keypad
This is the second of this model microwave we have had, the first lasting 4 years of, trust me, very heavy use. We were happy to find essentially the same model still available, but wish it had a lighted keypad. For anything but the most basic use, we often strain to see which key we want to press even in a room with average light levels.

Some Like It Hot
The attractive microwave gets very hot, easily melting plastic, so its heat level must be modified, as explained in the manual.

Plate rotation ring horrible
The plate ring is horrible, Constantly falling off. Go back to the arm style that slots into bottom. The slightest touch knocks it off rotation and sideways. Worst design.

Table starts to hesitate,
Had for almost two months. Started out great, nice and quiet. Went to use the other day and the table started to hesitate while turning and microwave is getting louder. Cleaned everything and it is okay now so will wait and see what happens.

Older better than new model
I had this same model microwave for 25 years. It finally quit. Was delighted to see still available. But was I wrong. First of all, hate childproof feature. Must press 0, then the open door button to open the door. Yes that feature can be turned off but why have it to begin with? The button itself is very cheap, it sticks. The original microwave had a baked potato button. If you were doing four potatoes, you just push the button four times, three potatoes three times etc. This new model has a sensor setting. I did four small potatoes, had to do sensor twice and potatoes still hard. Also original microwave had a roll setting, great for softening bread a little. It’s gone. And the melt/soften butter mode - melted the butter rather than just softening. I would have to say I’m not all that happy with this microwave. Of course there aren’t a lot of things built as well now as they were 25 years ago. Seems too many “ whistles and bells” added, that weren’t necessary. No, I would not recommend to a friend.
