Great Product
Very nice Microwave. Only suggestion is reducing the loud noise when closing the door. Could use some sort of rubber cushion to dampen the loud slam noise.

sharp microwave with inverter technology
We had a Sharp microwave that finally wore out. Bought the new Sharp with the inverter technology and wow....what a difference. I have excellent hearing and even I can't tell when it is running. The buttons are very easy to push unlike our old Sharp microwave. This one cooks everything so evenly. With our old Sharp I would have cool spots and would sometimes have to stir it and then finish cooking. Our old microwave had three beeps when done cooking. The new one has 5. I thought it would drive me nuts but the sound is not loud. There is a bonus however with this new microwave. If you don't like the beeps you can shut them off. Overall we are absolutely thrilled with this microwave.

Love this oven. Operation manual needs improvement
Got this Sharp Carousel countertop microwave as a gift. It replaced another Sharp microwave of similar dimensions/power that was at least 30 years old and still working fine. The new inverter technology definitely allows this version to cook/reheat items better. My absolute favorite preset is the sensor reheat. Reheated meals, no matter whether they go in at room temperature or cold from the refrigerator come out at a perfect temperature and not burned or overcooked. The defrost function also works better than the old oven which would sometimes start to cook portions of the food while other parts were still frozen. That doesn't happen with the new one. The popcorn preset works well but you definitely have to monitor the popping carefully and stop the popping immediately when the popping slows down. If you do this you will get perfect popcorn. If you don't you will get scorched popcorn. The melt/soften preset leaves something to be desired especially when trying to soften butter. There are better ways to soften butter (set the power level to 10% and microwave for a minute or two). The extensive operation manual needs improvement. It takes a lot of reading and rereading. Parts of it are quite confusing and sometimes downright contradictory. I still on occasion take it out and reread about a certain function usually coming away with an improved understanding. All in all I am absolutely delighted with this microwave. I give it five out of five stars. I give the instruction manual 2 1/2 stars.

Great countertop microwave!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this microwave as a gift. It is replacing an almost identical Sharp microwave that I have had for over 30 years (which is still going strong. I just set it out on the curb with a free sign on it so someone else could continue to use it). The new inverter technology is great! For instance it does things like defrost chicken without cooking it in spots (One of the many preset buttons). Another preset is called sensor reheat and it does so without having what you are reheating be scalding hot around the edge of the dish while still cold in the center. It has all the usual microwave functions like beverage, frozen entrée, potato, time cook, express cook, a kitchen timer, etc. If this one lasts as long as the previous one, it will outlast me! I could not be happier with this Microwave!

Just received still getting use to, easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Son purchased for me. Really enjoying ease of use. Only complaint so far. Inside shows to be black in advertisements, but is grey. But other than that really like.

Very happy with this microwave!
I’ve had it for a few weeks now and so far so good - it’s doing what they claim it does - the inverter cooking does heat evenly with no cold spots. It also auto defrosts well.

Attractive, quiet, powerful
This unit replaces a 15+ year old Carousel. It can be a challenge for a company to maintain high quality for extended periods. Sharp does just that. When the old microwave finally quit there was no doubt it would be replaced with another one from Sharp. This new one carries on the company's exellent reputation. It is easy to use and very effective, just like the old one.

If you want quality buy this Sharp Microwave!
Looked at a lot of microwaves but this is the one to buy. I didn't realize how much prices have went up on everything. My old one was 21 years old. And a different model. I looked for several weeks before I decided on this model Sharp! And I am so glad I did! I love it! It has the easy clean inside so it can be wiped out easily. The door opens easy, it's quiet when it runs.! You won't be sorry!

Looks like another winner!
I'm very pleased with my new Sharp microwave. The first thing I noticed is that it is much quieter than my old one. I'm still getting used to some different control features, like one button cooking, but I think they will ultimately prove to be more convenient. My previous microwave was also a Sharp and lasted 24 years, so I was happy to purchase another from Sharp; same size and wattage but with inverter technology which makes it more efficient.

Microwave 1.4 Replaced 1.6
My prior 1.6 version was excellent until it went bad 3 years to the day from purchase. I hope the 1.4 last as long or longer.
Could be my imagination, but the 1.4 seems quieter than the 1.6.

Countertop Microwave Stainless steel.
So far quite satisfied with overall performance and ease of operation. Takes a minute less to boil water than our old unit that this replaced. Touch pad is straight forward for what we use this for. Same dimensional size as old unit so minimul counter rearranging was needed. Based on pricepoint I would recommend.

An easy to use and quite microwave oven.
I am comparing this to the 18 year old Amana Microwave it replaced, so the bar is set high. I have been using it for about 2 months. On the plus side, this unit is SO much quieter, barely a whisper. I questioned if the fan was working as the top surface of the unit became hotter that I was used to. A visual inspection from the rear confirmed the fan was indeed working. Could Sharp have increased the fan speed with a little more noise to keep things cooler? Using the unit is easy, especially the single key stroke "add 30 second feature" on the start key. Keys 1-6 are that many minutes, also instant start. Too bad 7-9 could not be user programmable or set to something other than 30 seconds, like 10 or 45 seconds. They work when setting the cook time et al. There is a "memory" function initiated by the Zero key, but when we had a one second power blip it forgot everything. I have not done much with the programmed keys except to soften butter. Not sure how Sharp determined what size of the object to be heated using the presets. I need a video demonstrating these features.
The one downside is the internal lighting. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The light comes on when the oven is in use or the door is opened, just like my old Amana, which is good. My issues are, 1- the dark interior does not reflect the light, and 2- more importantly, is the back right corner of the oven is always in the dark, no light hitting it. Yet when the door when open the door is well lit. The placement of the light needs adjusted so the all of the interior is luminated. No reason to shine on the open door.
I am satisfied with the SMC1464HS unit, it is a keeper. Will I get 18 years out of it? That might outlast me.

Good basic microwave. So far so good
More uniform heating than my prior microwave. Was not aware that the interior dimension was approximately inch into an inch and a half smaller than my prior microwave of the same strength/volume. I do miss a custom defrost option based on my inputted weight rather than the pre-programmed weights. Quiet when operating.

Sharp Microwave is OK, but not the best
The Sharp 1100W microwave is a nice unit but doesn't cook as fast as our prior 1200W Panasonic. It's only 100W less, but you definitely notice it. You just need to cook things a little longer. The only issue is the turntable. This is our second microwave as the first one we bought had a problem with the turntable making a lot of noise. Now, the replacement unit is starting to have a problem with the turntable as well.

SMC1464HS Countertop Microwave Oven with Inverter
Works great. Knocked it down a star because it's hard to see the inside when running with the dark interior & lighting. Our old one, (wasn't with the inverter), had a white interior & warmer lighting, & it also would display 'end' when done. Unfortunately, this new one doesn't do that.

Ok so far
Has a more refined style that I like. Wanted a microwave with specific functions - beep off, light on when running & door opened and 1100w minimum.
What I do like:
+ Extremely quiet - as in you barely hear it run
* Keypad is softer touch. Not quite soft touch but better than others that you have to press the keys so hard that your fingers hurt
What I don’t like:
* Keypad is not lit nor an option to do so.
* Door makes such a loud noise when closing, regardless how gently you shut it.
*Inverter function doesn’t work as well as another well known brand. But that brand only lasted 3 yrs.
* Keypad function - seems all microwave mfgs are trying to reinvent the wheel. Why? Perfect the basic functions of a microwave instead of changing how the keypad works just so you can say you made a change or an improvement in your mind.
Guess I’ll keep it and hope for the best.

End of cooking alarm (5 beeps) cannot be disabled
The end of cooking alarm (5 beeps) cannot be disabled even though user manual gives a process to disable that alarm (confirmed by Sharp customer service). This blatant error in the supporting documents gives me doubts about the microwave's other features. If I had known that end of cooking alarm cannot be silenced I would not have purchased this item. Very disappointing.

Microwave number selection pad
It works well. However, I noticed the numbers we use the most (1, 2 and 3) on the selection pad are starting to puff up. Is there a plastic cover on top of the number selection pad that I should have peeled off?

Ruins Food Consistently
I’ve had this microwave for just under a month now and I really regret buying it. The reheat feature is terrible and if you don’t stop it early the food is cooked to an inedible degree. I’ve read through the instructions repeatedly and tried the different preset buttons like potato and frozen meal and nothing has come out right. I’ve resorted to manually entering a time and then lowering the power setting but then food takes forever to get warm. Also if you open the door mid cycle there’s about a two second delay before it turns off. I’ve never seen that before and seems unsafe.

Silent Mode Does Not Work
Received on 1/3/25. Used for the first time the morning of 1/4/25. One of the main reasons we bought this model was for silent mode. It does not work. I called and submitted a form. I was told it has to be reset every time. That's not true according to the manual. It's just not working. No help so far. I want either a replacement or refund. No help. I am so frustrated.
